When I want to relax, I read an essay by Engels. When I want something more serious, I read Corto Maltese.
In today's Blueberry: Blueberry gets upset at McClure for continuing to be an Irish stereotype, or I know I keep these uploads in black-and-white partially because it makes re-wording it easier, but mostly because it might encourage someone to buy it to see the colour proper, and in these series of pages, the colour is SPECTACULAR, or Blueberry gets saved in the nick of time, but for how long?!

I was just gonna say! At the time of this comic, Maceo Parker was still a toddler, but Maceo Pinkard (composer of Sweet Georgia Brown) and Big Maceo Merriweather would have been pretty well known to African-Americans of the time. It’s apparently not uncommon as a surname is Spanish-speaking countries, but it seems like it’s a fairly common first name for Black people born before 1950 or so. What a neat little historical thing to learn from a throwaway tidbit!
