loving infuriating to listen to Gladys keep saying "well other states will have to face this" as though turning the Delta tap on early was part of some grand plan, or as though NSW is somehow in a better situation than other states

gladys got called out on not locking down harder earlier again and just said something about how it was likely spreading unbeknownst to anyone at the start of the outbreak. yeah no poo poo moron. you think? thats why you slam the fucker shut immediately like NZ just did.

I think this latest outbreak has really shown this countries desperate need for a remote quarantine island. But you know just for the NSW liberal government.

Being somewhat fair, delta is far harder to deal with than Vic covid was, it's not an apples to apples comparison and it makes Vic rightly look even dumber that we hosed up babby covid so bad. That said how NSW ever thought they could get away with less measures than what it took to kill babby covid, with Vic and the rest of the world setting clear examples is beyond me.

Something else I have noticed with the NSW Gladys press conferences is that she is constantly throwing the blame on "people who are doing the wrong thing". Constantly victim blaming, and thinking the solution is to throw more police at the problem, rather than lock down properly and proportionately to the spreading plague wildfire. Does she think, (or want us to think), that NSW is just less law abiding than the rest of the country who manages to handle their lockdowns better due to us being nice boys and girls?

BrigadierSensible posted:Something else I have noticed with the NSW Gladys press conferences is that she is constantly throwing the blame on "people who are doing the wrong thing". Also they were still blaming people today but then the deputy chief health officer said this quote:And so, one of the major drivers of the higher case numbers that we’re seeing in the areas of south-western Sydney and western Sydney is larger households that we’re seeing. They've said it before so it's not surprising but they still haven't told us if they are actually doing anything about it other than getting them vaccinated. We all know Vic had a spread in essential worker problem, and we also know that they did things that worked and told everyone about them. But NSW is just going to fine people sitting on benches for too long, talk about the number of penalties given and seemingly never address the thing that they keep saying is the actual problem.

I think most people are now generally doing the right thing, its just that as pointed out by that reporter, there is 8 million people in NSW, 400 people doing the 'the wrong thing' seems inevitable. you arent going to achieve 100% compliance. and our daily transmission rates and infections probably cannot be avoided with the businesses that are still open and have to remain open. and really its not those 400 people copping the fines that are actually spreading the virus either. most of the infections are coming from house holds which implies it is people that are actually complying with restrictions. to make out like its a compliance issue is simply laying the blame on the public that has a lot of external forces acting on it and largely out of their control. a lot of people cannot just stop going to work, or work from home. the people breaching the health orders should be fined but they arent the ones spreading the virus. its the people who are working in roles that dont have a choice and then taking it home to their household and I dont know how anyone can expect that to slow down without actually shutting down entirely and locking everyone inside with food supplies for two weeks. even an all out lockdown still leaves super markets, food and servos open.

Gladys living the Liberal wet dream of being able to blame poors for her problems everyday, openly and without shame. Also extended lockdown for regional NSW until 28th. No cases where I am, but because she can't control her feral rich children strutting about the place we all gotta suffer. Sister, her husband and baby locked down for 2 months now. Amazing what happens when the worst generation is at the helm.
