I mentioned it a couple of times in these threads already, but my wife was a nurse in China before she married me and came to the US. I was a dumb chud in 2019 and she threatened me with actual assault unless we pulled our kid out of pre-K and I started to wear a mask....in February 2020. She already basically hated everything about America before this, especially American food in every form. This is pretty common among Chinese people - I have friends who spent 5 years in America and ate at a non-Chinese/Asian restaurant maybe once throughout those 5 years, because their new American friends dragged them to a Red Lobster or some poo poo, and that was enough. Her family ran a bakery in China growing up and she was a semi-professional cook.

Her process of crack-pinging was something like:

February 2020:
Me: I guess they found a few cases in our state now.
Her: Holy poo poo why are still people going outside? Why isn't the city locked down?

March 2020:
Me: I dunno babe this Fauci guy on TV says masks don't work?
Her: You are the dumbest god drat idiot I have ever met.

April 2020:
Me: Check out these convicts digging mass graves in New York in exchange for masks lol.
Her: A hundred thousand people are going to die. All those people had families and children. Why doesn't the government do something?

June 2020:
Me: The FDA has issued guidance on returning refrigerated trailers back to food service after storing corpses.
Her: : :stare:

[Bunch of other poo poo in 2020]

January 2021:
Me: A bunch of hospital workers in California got infected because one of them wore an inflatable Christmas tree outfit for a party while positive. Also there's some kind of coup going on in Washington.
Her: lol. lmao.

They’re sort of right. Restaurant workers getting stacks of unemployment money did indeed lead to a situation where people who had never seen a comma in their bank account before could suddenly sock away a little bit of an emergency fund and look into better lines of work, or at least similar work in better conditions. The chuds interpret this as a problem because they’re morons and the burgers don’t come out of the burger hole as fast as they used to, but Congress blindly guessing that it costs six hundred bucks a week to be a poor person did stoke a lot of poor people out and allow for a little bit of job shopping.

Restaurants have been churn and burn the whole time, this was just the first time that restaurant workers got to take a break from the job with a couple grand in the bank and think about whether they wanted to go back. Unsurprisingly, a lot of people said no.

Seriously, this isn't secret information.

Not sure what to make of this notion to use full approval to enable off label pediatric vaccinations. Why not just give the pediatric EUA in that case? What needle is this threading?

They’d rather have 100k kids die from a decision they didn’t make than 5 die from a decision they did.

If your kid is old enough looking to pass as 12 and can lie convincingly, absolutely get them the shot. It will probably be months before we see it otherwise.

I pay to post on a dead gay comedy forum, do you think it was a joke? Obviously we hit up plenty of higher end places too. I'm not joking about Golden Corral though, because it's an actual representation of authentic American cuisine and I won't apologize for America. :colbert:

Also not a joke and an actual conversation we had:

Some time in March 2020:
Me: Seems like this is just a worse version of the flu?
Her: 1. You are so god drat stupid, and 2. My nurse friends in China are telling me about certain erectile and reproductive issues amongst recovered covid patients that don't seem to be going away with time.
Me: Eh, those are just anecdotes though, since unlike you, I am an advanced post-graduate degree holder, I'm going to wait for something peer reviewed before coming to any conclusions. :smug:

I just want kids with complex conditions to be able to be vaccinated.. now. Offlabel use seems the best way to do this. I don't know what the status of this is in Canada but it seems like a no brainer to me. Some kids have far higher risk profiles and comobidities than others. If they have specialists they should be able to make that decision.

topols onto max titers. also sounds like doctors will be able to prescribe booster shots off-label instead of waiting for the cdc's approval and 8 months. would be a nice benefit if docs can prescribe themselves a booster since their immunity has probably significantly waned at this point

Yeah probably the last one. Unfortunately when public institutions aren't sufficiently transparent and the public loses trust in them then rumors gain a lot more attention because there's not much else for the public to go by. Really need a reliable CDC to shut down this dumb game of telephone.

Though the possibility that the CDC/FDA wants to avoid an EUA for a vaccine with a moderate adverse effect rate but to still give people a route to vaccinate their kids because there's literally no other option sadly sounds very on brand.
