The nearby Indian reservation is now paying $500 to its members to get vaccinated, including if they've already been vaccinated Pretty much everyone I talk to about the jab who hasn't been vaccinated yet fall into one of two groups: 1. actively antivax 2. indifferent "I'll be fine I probably had covid already" types. I'm not personally encountering anyone who's all "oh no! I might have to pay $7500 for it! and I can't take off work!"

Like I'm not saying barriers don't exist or that it isn't harder for some people than others but the idea that anyone that decides they want to get vaxxed would be unable to do so within a fairly short period of time is a fantasy.

The debate about triage seems like a non issue. They aren't going to deprioritize the unvaxed to punish them, but because they are less likely to survive. If I have a vaxed patient and an unvaxed patient, but only one bed, and if the unvaxed have lower survival rates, then from the standpoint of saving the max number of lives you kick out the unvaxed patient. At that point WHY they are unvaxed doesn't matter. Only on America is this going to turn into a morality play where everyone thinks the unvaxed are being punished. It makes me think of people who think taxes are punishment as opposed to just something that has to happen to keep the system rolling.

Sure, I agree with that, I just don't know of a way to account for that in a triage situation on the ground is all. Absolutely our poo poo government and racist society should be held accountable and corrected somehow. Utilitarianism sucks rear end a lot of the time, I just don't know how it could be addressed at the level of "what are the triage rules". Someone who knows definitely correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can miss out on an organ transplant because the disease you happened to have that caused you to need one is generally less survivable than a disease that someone else has that also needs that organ.

Any news on if any of the counties that closed schools are looking to go virtual? I am weighing my options on whether I'm homeschooling our under 12 year old until my county gets its head out of its rear end (lol) or what. I bought a load of kid sized kf-94s and masks are required, but they still have lunch in one gigantic room which is insane to me.
