that's sort of deliberate - in a situation where you don't need to dodge SAMs and poo poo, a prop-driven plane can be better because it's slow enough that you can take your sweet time lining up shots, and you can loiter for a lot longer over a target area, and it's cheaper to supply/build/maintain than, say, an F-16 or whatever

it's similar to why the A-1 Skyraider was used in Vietnam for so long
