Trying not to crack ping about my doctor wanting me to get a spike protein/ antibody test in 3 weeks to see if the booster shot worked. I'm on Humira but Dr. recommended I skip this week since I got the vaccine Friday.

I am kind of weird but I take dewormers on a quasi regular basis because I have a lot of dirt and some animal exposure, and it strikes me as weird to routinely treat livestock and pets for worms and not also just treat myself

a thing that is lol to me is that the OTC drugs in the us are mostly garbage and Mebendazole from a pharmacy is like $200 a pill or something completely idiotic, but you can get Indian Albenza really easy for like a buck a pill (and someone is making bank because that is a 10x hike over Indian retail)

I have a suspicion that if most people really challenged themselves with antiparasitcs and then looked at their poo poo closely they would see some horrifying things; how bad this is for you in general is debatable and there exists decent evidence that being infested with nematodes to some degree may actually lower your autoimmune odds; the theory being that humans lived with worms for so much of our evolutionary history that some parts of the immune system function better with them. I have some white papers if anyone cares.

I hope not having worms as much doesn’t give me crohns or something but I reliably can relieve a certain set of GI probs with one of the albendazole class drugs, usually taken twice at a 7 day interval.

Uh, where do you live that being around some dirt and animals makes you need antiparasitics antihelminth drugs quasi regularly?

I'm not sure why you would need to take deworming medication on the regular. Unless your job is like making out with farm animals and eating dirt.

Seems weird to just keep injecting all these mares with horse semen and never give myself a little taste.

I have several Millennial friends who hesitated but ultimately caved and got the vax in May/June. A few more who are very anti vax.

The anti vax ones keep asking me to hang out. I told one guy I would see him in 2031 when covid was over.

I saw specific recommendations not to do antibody tests earlier this year because people might alter their behavior to be more risky if they know they have antibodies. There was also the question of how accurate they'd be but hopefully they've figured that put since March.

My rheumatologist has never told me to skip my biologic before a vaccine but my aunt skips hers. He's also never told me to get an antibody test. Hilariously I think I took mine like two days before two of my three vaccines. Maybe he's a dipshit and yours is good!
