I have come to discourse on the profound inequities of the American political system.

I saw colloidal silver products at a CVS in town recently. It had silver in concentrations that would require you to drop a pretty penny to turn yourself into a smurf(you'd probably have to buy out the whole stock), but it was there.

My company just announced that they if you are vaccinated by October then you automatically get bumped up into the discounted health plan category next year, which gets you $60/month off of whatever your health plan option would usually cost. Normally you have to jump through a million "wellness program" hoops to qualify for that discount.

Ahh ok didn't read closely enough, this is a second derivative. So only two states actually seem to be "flattening" in their growth right now (although they haven't yet peaked). It is true that California's case curve looks flat at the moment, though that may change as schools are just now opening here.

Just keep taking the derivative until the numbers look favourable.

South Dakota's rate-of-rate-of-rate-of-increase in new COVID-19 cases in the last 0.5 days is negative, so you see things are improving!

everyone's asking how effective this will be considering some folks will basically just call it a COVID fee and be done with it, you are correct that's likely what will happen

This is basically this is the sort of policy that is considered ideal by Southerners - levying a fee against someone is the greatest sort of indicator you've got beef and also the most 'civilized' way to handle it. There's this real strong rash of thinking that being overly punitive financially will incentivize people to act 'better' and that said method is the most reasonable and humane way to get obeisance on a public rule. And if they don't, well, we've got their money! So essentially they *paid for the right* -> and that last part is where it falls apart because people end up just purchasing the ability to break rules and feeling like it's all the same - they don't need to follow the rule because they paid the fee!

Not a doctor, but a quick google shows it's a inhaled steroid that's commonly used for people with severe lung problems. I guess it could be used for COVID patients but it's treating symptoms only.

Anybody know what's up with Enovid? It's a nasal spray with nitric oxide in it that supposedly murders a lot of the viruses in your body. I've been following their story since they first started talking about it. One would think this would pop off around the world if it was actually so effective. You can buy it on Ebay gray market but anybody know anything else about this story? Why isn't it in the news more? Is nitric oxide not what they say it is?

I imagine killing 95% of the viruses in your body doesn't always turn out too well but this seems easy to produce/distribute (or I'm ignorant, but "nitric oxide" sounds like some basic-rear end chemical you can buy tanker trucks full of easily - not to be confused with nitrous oxide, but that'd be funny if people started doing whipits to cure COVID)

Nitric oxide is a real endogenous molecule that has sanitizing properties, among many others (it also helps promote vascularization in the body etc.). I have no idea if this product is legit though.
