Did the little Alien figurine come from inside of one of those eggs?

I’m pretty sure they did. I haven’t seen those eggs in stores yet, but maybe I just don’t know what department they’re in.

I see them in Walmart a lot. In the entertainment section near collectibles. Usually on an end cap.

I got a couple sets of the Aliens eggs at Easter, then I found the ones you see yesterday with a clearance sticker so I couldn't resist.

I ordered a bunch of DVDs that were on clearance for a buck each, they finally arrived, and they're in weird cases

Has anybody seen this before? I thought those skinny cases were only used in box sets, not for actual separate releases.

Yeah, these cases were common in bargain bins and places like Dollar Tree. I have a copy of Wild Guitar and The Beatniks that's like this.

Curse of Frankenstein is down to $13, if anyone is looking for some good October viewing material. This was one of the best blu rays of 2020, the film comes in three different aspect ratios and it looks amazing.

I've actually turned into a fun little October tradition where I treat myself to one or two new Hammer blu rays each year. This year it'll probably be The Devil Rides Out, last year I bought Dracula: Prince of Darkness.

It's priced at $170, and there will only be 4000 copies. You can pre-order it now. But I don't have the scratch for that kind of investment right now.

Don't eat for a few days so you can buy two and then sell the extra one to some moron for at least double the retail price a month from now when they're all sold out.

My Blu-ray copy of the Matrix trilogy came in slim cases inside a larger box with a cool holographic Matrix font that made it look like Matrix code was cascading down the front of the packaging when you tilted it, it was a cool effect.

The 4K cases were boring so I actually bought a few 2-disc slim cases to put the 4K versions in just so I could keep the cool packaging when I upgraded.

My 4k copy of The Matrix is the first time I've actually owned The Matrix. I think I was so soured by the sequels that I just never felt like revisiting it until a few years ago.

From Right Stuf, the anime website. I wondered why they had four 70s British horror movies available on the anime website, but since they were released by Geneon it makes more sense. But then does raise the question of why Geneon did budget releases of 70s British horror movies.

My DVD copy of Futurama Season 1 comes in a few of those slim cases in a slip. I've seen worse boxset packaging (deadwood)

I’ve actually warmed on the sequels over the years, they present a lot of neat ideas and take the Matrix concept in some logical new directions. There are some things I wish were explored/explained more, but I still dig them.

You're quite good at turning me on.

The freeway chase in Reloaded is still cool and good. I didn't even mind the rave scene last time I watched it.

Revolutions is so bogged down in exposition it's just a total slog to get through.

I've also come around on the Matrix sequels and I think the reason is that when I watch the trilogy now I tend to watch them all fairly close together in the span of a few days. So when you take out the months or years of wait time between the films where the hype train was going nonstop and the expectations were built to the moon, I think the trilogy as a whole hangs together a lot better and it's a more satisfying watch.

The whole block from the Merovingian’s cause/effect speech through to the end of the freeway chase is excellent. I’m especially a fan of the chateau fight.

I didn’t watch The Matrix until several years after it came out and didn’t get the appeal. Bullet time in particular had been parodied to hell and back by that time, so that didn’t help.

The new Space Jam has a bullet time parody scene that looks dated as hell.

From what I can tell, Nozomi bought Geneon, which I think used to be Pioneer, in order to get the rights to a bunch of anime they had. So now they either have a bunch of overstock from when Geneon was dying, or they're printing cheap rear end copies of random rear end movies just because.

I was real iffy on the animation style when the first trailer seemingly came out of nowhere. But it ended up being one of the better movies to come out in recent years, period.
