They could have written it so as to avoid the need to name a variant at all.

Honestly the wording is kind of bad, period, but the simplest change would be something like this:

“In recent week weeks in the latest surge of the virus […]”

They can still bail if they want but I have not gotten the impression that OF is much more than a place to shove your media, get payments and find customers, so what benefit is there to jumping early?

It'd be like hopping to Vimeo before YouTube's algorithm fucks you.

No point in scrambling to find another platform when/if they change their mind again. Just get it out of the way now before it becomes a problem.

So it reads like it wasn't a school sanctioned trip but rather a group of kids who went with parents, and then family stateside reached out to the district to see if they could help/not penalize them for potentially missing a little bit of school.

So not as bad as a school sanctioned field trip but still pretty stupid.

Not sure if it really makes it smarter, but for what it's worth the San Diego Tribune article on the topic explains that this group was Afghans living in the US visiting family in Afghanistan. Not just a bunch of people doing poverty tourism in one of the most dangerous places in the world.

The crime of Aggravated Child Abuse is a First Degree Felony in Florida and punishable by up to thirty (30) years in prison, thirty (30) years of probation, and a $10,000 fine.

He's anti-masker. He will have the red carpet rolled out and he won't ever see a courtroom.

They only care about children if they're the kids that hillary clinton is eating in the pizza basements. Other than that, they don't give a gently caress.

I am praying that this sticks (and Kemp doesn't gently caress it over) so more GA companies follow suite. I just found out my anti vax teammate caught covid last week (and still came into the office because "it's just a bad cold") and my company didn't notify anyone who was in close contact with him. When the smoking tax on insurance went into effect here, we saw a huge drop in smokers, so hitting these dumbasses' pocketbooks is a proven way to get compliance.

So, uhh, there's kind of a "the courts have made their decision, now let them enforce it" level cluster gently caress going on right now.

https://www.vox.com/2021/8/24/22640424/supreme-court-remain-in-mexico-trump-biden-samuel-alito-immigration

Batshit insane Trump CHUD judge puts out a ruling that is just flat out, unambiguously legally wrong, both on law and on precedent, but the Supreme Court gives it a pass because that's where we are as a country now. Extra bonus special sauce of this ruling is that it compels the administration to act according to one judge's whims in foreign policy and negotiations. This is veering in to really, really loving dark territory because if the judicial branch starts ruling on foreign policy then every single other foreign entity needs to take in to account 50 different state judicial systems and every judicial district instead of being able to negotiate or sign treaties or anything at all with just "the United States" since it could be overturned in an instant because 'gently caress you'.
