36% of cases in tennessee are kids. this matches kentucky which also sees 1/3 of cases are kids. this seems not good

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Children now make up 36% of Tennessee’s reported COVID-19 cases, marking yet another sobering milestone in the state’s battle against the highly contagious delta variant, Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey said Wednesday.

“We had 14,000 pediatric cases in the last seven days, which is a 57% increase over the week prior,” Piercey told reporters. “Right now, 36% of all of our cases in the state are among children when it’s historically been in the 10 to 15% range.”

My (least) favorite part of this whole debacle is there is no real documented COVID policy at my work place. It basically involves the GM checking the official CDC color of the county.

If it's red, they lock the front gate, because COVID doesn't know about the super secret, well marked gate that the shipments arrive in. Some people get to work from home every other day, and masks in the hallways are ~strongly~ enforced (Ron Howardishly: They aren't)

This continues until the CDC changes the county color to orange again.

quote:

”Parents are more interested in playing tennis, getting a massage, or going to ‘the club’ than they are keeping their sniffling, coughing children home,” said a Calusa teacher who asked not be identified but also raised concern last year. “Our administrators need to aggressively tell these elitist parents that they can not send their kids to school if they are even sneezing.”

Another teacher at the school shared a similar sentiment.

”These are some of the worst parents I’ve ever seen. If your child is not feeling well, or appears to be not feeling well, stay home. We are not a dumping ground for third graders with runny noses and low fevers.

We didn't have a local HR person for about 2 years, after the old one got promoted to the parent company after 25 years. For all this time, our HR was now located 300 miles away.

A couple months ago, we got a local one. I think all she does is run around and gossip with the other people who's jobs are mostly worthless, like the receptionist, sales, and accounting.

We've had a couple new hires recently, and for each of them she's sent out an information sheet on them. This sheet is like something you'd give a middle school student at the beginning of the year, right down to the weirdly childish formatting for a manufacturing facility.

She's also been codifying certain policies that were just sorta a couple lines in the handbook. Every one of them is badly worded.

I recall some smarter goon than I, in some long lost thread saying that people who go into HR as a career majored in high school, and goddamn if it isn't obvious with this one.

I don’t know why you are calling peoples jobs “worthless”
