Yeah, Georgian wine is excellent and since Georgian viniculture was largely isolated from Europe until recently they have a wide variety of their own unique varieties that are in their own class.

Also, generally Georgia itself is pretty easy to travel around and things have generally settled down a lot after the 2008 war. Also, Tbilisi is fairly chill and a good starting point but certainly take time to explore the rest of the country.

this one makes me genuinely mad because the liberals are obviously trying to rationalize why these immigrants are ok despite having completely hosed over most immigrants with revised visa rules and lovely enforcement against abusive employers in recent years

they arent trying to change the conversation theyre straight up buying into right wing rhetoric because they actually believe most foreigners are moochers and they should only be letting the good ones in the country

Export probably since it also has German lettering saying "made in Georgia" at the bottom.

She was the first female flight instructor at a U.S. military base and the first woman to become an air safety investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board.

All Americans have ever heard of Taiwan for the last 5 decades frames it as if it is an independent country. You can't expect us to actually know anything about it.

Maximo Roboto
Feb 4, 2012

It is de facto an independent country, not de jure.

Though if it continues on its current trajectory it will end up an economic dependency of the mainland, in which case the deadlock might just resolve itself.

De jure Taiwan still considers itself to be part of China, it just doesn't recognize the legitimacy of the PRC. It's not like other de facto independent countries like Abkhazia or Transnistria, which insist on being truly independent but are merely unrecognized as such.

I wouldn't say thats true anymore, recent polling has had 60+% for just taiwanese vs both / Chinese, so the islands opinion has shifted on this over the last 10 years away from "both"

Like whoops china waited too long and Taiwan has actually formed a national identity

Opinion polling has no bearing on the de jure status of the island. Unless that changes the polls don't matter.

Taiwan literally cannot claim otherwise without being invaded, even if they believe themselves to be independent. Their stated status may not reflect the opinion of those on the island.
