Teabag Dome Scandal posted:1% of all cases resulting in hospitalization is insane???? is this real??? Here is the full, latest 8/19 PDF report On page 27 you can see the hospitalization rate by state. I don't really have time to look for places that did mass testing like say Iceland but I would imagine (as would my stress level) that there's tons of asymptomatic kids not getting tested so while the case hospitalization rate is say 0.9% in Oregon where I live, how many more kids are never tested? For a more concrete example when my brother got his breakthrough case he never had his youngest tested, just his oldest kid. They both had covid most certainly but only one would count as a positive test the other never existed in the system as having covid but also was of course never hospitalized. So fudge factor the kids not getting tested and reduce the hospitalization percentage to whatever makes you feel good.

So is there any guidance on 1. mrna shot 2. mrna shot 3. breakthrough covid case 4. booster??? I remember if you have a covid infection they wanted you to wait some amount of time to start the vaccine process. The default here would be I guess wait the same length of time post breakthrough infection to get the booster. I know the answer is that they arnt even tracking breakthrough so there is no guidance

Thesaurus posted:i know that covid is killing lots of poor POC in cities, etc, but what are the chances that delta eliminates enough chuds to tip any elections? At the state level it absolutely could. A lot of rural elections in the US for things like state houses and board of commissioners are decided by under 1,000 votes. It would take a lot of time to filter up to the national level (and a political alternative to liberal capitalism whoops) but it could happen.

The Blue MAGA crowd seems to be lining up behind "hospitals should refuse to treat unvaccinated people" . https://twitter.com/BrianNumeroDos/status/1431276860462313485?s=20 So what are the chances that Congress passes a "COVID medical debt forgiveness" bill when libs and CHUDS alike find themselves driven to bankruptcy after half their family is hospitalized?

I just called my parents in GA about 3rd dose MAX TITERS, and they were completely uninterested. Mom votes blue, and stepdad leans slightly conservative, but doesn't care enough to go against my mom. I had to fly to Atlanta and herd them to Walgreens for their first dose, so perhaps this isn't too surprising. At least they got their second dose on time by themselves. If they don't get their 3rd dose by Thanksgiving, I can make them get it then.

Really love these SPS emails. Bolding/underlining is theirs. Families and staff have also shared concern about the COVID-19 Delta variant. We take our responsibility to provide safe and healthy learning spaces seriously, and we will continue to monitor cases in our community in partnership with public health officials. We are legally required by the state and excited to provide in-person learning this school year. You can help us support a safe return to school buildings by continuing to follow the guidance of public health experts, including wearing a mask, getting vaccinated, and limiting non-essential activities if not vaccinated. We have strong protocols in our school buildings, but transmission occurs in less structured spaces in the community. We all have to do our part to keep each other safe, including in our school environments. Thank you Superintendent Brent Jones, it's nice to know that if my child gets covid, it's the fault of less structured spaces in the community.
