Re: the interns (not really spoilers but whatever): The Psychonauts intern program absolutely sucks. Everyone is shoved onto staff who don't want them or don't know what to do with them, and they're either ignored or given useless busy work so their mentor doesn't have to deal with them. The person who's ostensibly teaching them is too busy running the entire organization, and frequently leaves them alone with "independent work" for long stretches. A large part of why the interns are jerks is because that's what kids and teens do when they're not acknowledged or taken seriously, and it's why they change so quickly once Hollis gives them a real mission.

the interns are really bad at the start but the next couple of missions + clairvoyance opened them up well enough for me. sam is cool with you from the beginning (and sure enough her clairvoyant view of raz is the only "positive" one before mission 2), she's just odd. likewise, norma's hostile even after the heist because she still sees raz as the mole. the others all readjust their perspective of raz, but several of them are still kind of naturally unpleasant so it doesn't come through as strongly as it could

I can't really believe this is a kickstarter game. Finished it just now and credits are rolling and I have no idea how it managed to live up for the most part. Bonus points for not super relying on callbacks either.

Only thing that I kinda found myself bummed out about is that there weren't any like... puzzle minds? Closest was the cooking show I guess. That and while I enjoyed all the worlds to some extent a lot of them didn't feel as zany. Probably because everyone in the asylum of 1 was crazy but still.
Led to a minor *minor* nitpick but mann no unique npc's really in the minds was a bit of a bummer. Everything was just object with squiggly face and arms it felt. Nothing like the drama kids, the critic, girl scouts etc.

Eager to do cleanup if I can.

So basically you're saying it's exactly like a real-life internship program.

Speaking of the (first half spoiler) cooking show level.

I found it really weird how they gave the character who is known to love and communicate with animals the level where you chop up pigs, and boil eggs and beehives.
I get the "idea" behind the level is to help him overcome his fear that everyone around is judging him, but still, could probably have been presented differently.

Edit: Also, the Judges are cool enemies, and I wish they appeared in more stages.

I don't really think that was the idea behind the level and saw it as more of a person who's got some different opinions / wants than what they put out into the world.

I just beat it. It had some really weird pacing issues/scene-cuts at the end that makes me believe they had a bigger plan for how things were going to play out and time caught up to Tim Schafer again. It doesn't really ruin the experience and I do believe like 3/4th of the game is super fleshed out but once you hit the point of no return it's very quick to just move things along.

There are some complaints about just gamifying game things, like the pin system, but overall it felt like a logical improvement from Psychonauts and I really hope they get the green light to do a 3. I had a very fun time playing this game as it was just super joyous to jump back into it and Double Fine really nailed "it's only been 3 days" instead of the 16 years it's actually been. Usually after time you get a bit worried when a sequel is so far from it's original but is a really really really solid game. I'd have to look over what has released in 2021 because I think it might be the most fun I've had all year.

The ending to that level where he removes the last judge puppet from his own hand made me think he realized he was beating himself up, and worrying too much about what others think of him.

Edit: Still, chopping animals is very weird for that character, even in his head.

No moreso than most of the campers in the first game. They help fill in the world and give Raz some peers to compare and contrast to.

I really wonder if they're even considering a third, since this one wrapped up pretty nicely.

I believe the list of brains in the brain vat are the backers.

The interns, I think, you're supposed to think are little teenage jerks, even after the casino mission. They're not irredeemable, but they do need some psi-power-assisted humbling.

I kinda like them as characters in a story, even if they're being crap to Raz.

The campers filled in the world, the interns bloat it. They get focus in points that actively detracts from scenes without ever really adding anything or being anything.

They've put a lot of breadcrumbs for potential sequels. The scene in the lab after you complete the game is a good one. I of course won't force Double Fine at gunpoint to make a third one, but if they did I'd be pretty excited for it.

I disagree with this entirely but everybody is entitled to their opinions.

They are teenagers who just got a new member in their circle. They do some very nice things as they get to know Raz but they are also just smartass's who think they know better: End Game spoiler: like when they get the Junior Agent tag, one of them gasps and acts upset over the term Junior while Raz is like "hell yeah" and also to be honest (more end game spoilers here) They literally thought that Raz was the mole since again, they didn't know much about him.

They just acted like standard teenagers to me lmao v:shobon:v

Ok, I've just done two of the trio of those worlds, and I had to stop playing as much cause I felt like I was buring through the game. It's everything I could have hoped from a sequel and clearly this is a thing doublefine does very well.

I definitely want a third.

Finished the game last night and just wow. The art in this game is amazing and I hope Double Fine gets the greenlight to go nuts next time as well. There were some problems here and there with cut scenes, characters, and boss fights, but they didn't ruin the experience for me. I think this is my GOTY.

yeah i'm excited to see if proper funding and a proper management (lol) of time would allow them to just go hog wild. There's still a lot of breadcrumbs out there for them to expand upon if they want to.

It's a common bug. If you alt+tab and back you can close the journal at least, to continue playing until it autosaves. But yeah, you need to restart the game after that one if you want to do anything in the journal.
