Counterpoint: Psychonauts 2 feels like a perfectly updated version of Psychonauts 1 and has been a joy to play for the first 6 hours or so. It controls well, the dialogue is good, it looks good, and the level design is very fun.

My Gamepass Ultimate promo period is about to run out. What’s the current best way to renew it? Can you let it lapse, buy up all the time on gold and game pass and covert it again or was that a one time thing?

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.

From what I've heard, it still works, but you won't get the $1 promotional pricing for GPU anymore and will have to do the normal rate of $15/month to convert your banked time. Probably still works out to a decent deal though

Yeah it's this. If you let it lapse you can still do the 1:1 conversion, but you have to pay $15 for that first month of GPU instead of $1.

However, MS stopped selling the 12 month Live cards, so you may want to start keeping your eyes open for deals so you can stock up for conversion.

Looks like it's going to be a fun game of classic SR mayhem gameplay, I'm looking forward to it. Not sure what all the comments are japping about.

The main characters seem super generic and not nearly psychopathic enough for a Saints Row game.

Gameplay will probably be fun though.

Unironically, turn on the easier combat option in the assistance menu. Its not 1-hit kills on enemies but it makes combat muuuuch breezier. I only turned it on after beating the game to experiment and I regret that

Stuck in psychonauts 2 I’m at the end of the first mission I think. I need to cross a bridge of ice my classmate made but I just fall to my death. I can’t double jump or use any of my powers to get across. I must be missing something stupid?

I got plenty of speed, jumped at the last moment , and used levitation.

What did you think? I'll agree that the combat could have been better, or atleast the heavier enemies could have had 1/3 or 1/2 less hp than they have.

Huh, I knew i was supposed to use that power, but it didn't do anything. I remapped it and it suddenly worked the next time. Maybe I had replaced it? Weird, anyway thanks!

-I definitely remapped it and forgot, I have way more powers than i remembered :classiclol:

Psychonauts 2 talk. I'm at the intro with all the teeth, will it get more open world after this but with missions you can choose? Or is the game always as linear as the intro.

It definitely opens up, although it's never an open world game per se...but there is a central hub you keep returning to and have different objectives / collectibles you can focus on.

Yeah, it's a really nice mix. You get the laser-focused levels with lots of story, then that hub with all sorts of nooks and crannies and paths, and the ability to jump back in to specific zones in the former if you miss anything.

It's genuinely my favorite game of the year so far. The entire thing just flows so nicely, feels so good to run around in (I agree about the combat being fiddly), and exudes so much charm.

Finished it last night. Combat was a bit button-mashy for my tastes, and I wish I wasn’t always remapping the powers. But visuals, level variety and story were excellent.

I'm enjoying Psychonauts 2 but my god the boss fights in this game are awful. I don't think I've played anything that makes you spend so much time waiting for your limited opening to attack. I just fought the judges and hated everything about it.

I feel like Im going crazy because I thought that was the best fight and took no time at all. Faun Cruller pukes up ingredients, huck the one you need, move to next phase instantly.

It felt like it took forever between pukes. Sometimes I would not have time to lift every ingredient and there were times where the ingredient I needed wasn’t even there so I’d just have to go through the cycle again.
