I know the answer is "people are stupid as gently caress" but it still boggles my mind that people are taking a dewormer thinking it will help against a virus. Like, this is way beyond people not understanding the difference between viruses and bacteria and demanding antibiotics. This is straight-up magical thinking.

It didn't come out of nowhere, doctors have been publishing case studies where they tried treating covid-19 patients with ivermectin since early in 2020. It really hit the chudosphere in June when a metastudy was published in Nature that summarizes the proposed mechanisms by which it could be effective and basically concludes with "more research is needed." Obviously most chuds have not read this study, nor would they have the ability to comprehend it, I'm just saying that this drug has been on the periphery of legitimate medical science as a covid-19 treatment (and mostly found to not work very well) HCQ went through this same cycle. Chuds are desperate for a wonder cure and will take any news as good news

CDC and FDA have been so slow, getting an appointment to talk to a doctor is so slow, there's no way to really have a dialogue with them. My friend's doctor told him back in March of 2020 to go ahead and take a trip to Florida. I told him he was insane and Florida was a probable hotbed of covid. By the time he was on his way back he was worried about an interstate lockdown being imposed and had to navigate through an airport filled with people who'd just been kicked off cruise ships. My point isn't that my friend should listen to me instead of his doctor regarding medical advice, but that regular doctors are going to be wrong a LOT especially if they follow the CDC and FDA. It just creates a lovely situation because the experts regular people have access to have been wrong so much and so often. Also the experts are bought out constantly. How am I supposed to believe anyone has my best interests in mind when my own health is commoditized?

Someone needs to start the rumor that all the dewormer poo poo has been shipped in from China so it could be tainted. And add to that that the vaccine now out actually has the dewormer IN it but liberals don't want you to know it and are trying to keep you from getting it. That said I doubt any of the chuds would believe it unless Trump said it himself. The liberals DON'T want you to get the vaccine!

Breakthrough cases have always been factored into the vaxxed populations since the vaxxes were only ever rated at 95% efficacy against symptomatic infection to start with, and statistics on asymptomatic breakthrough infections were always hard to come by because there's not many large populations doing regular surveillance testing. The delta variant pushes the vaxx efficacies even lower and the CDC chose not to collect info on mild breakthrough cases so the data is even spottier now. There's still lots of elderly/immunocompromised/comorbid people developing breakthrough cases but anecdotally there's also lots of younger 'healthy' people getting breakthrough cases as well. Also don't forget that Gov Abbott got a breakthrough case even though he was fully vaxxed and had taken a sneaky booster shot before those were available to the general public so don't assume that boosters will stop breakthrough cases either.

Does an organ donor that has passed from covid-19 provide viable organs for transplant to those that have been vaccinated? I want to believe that the answer is yes, but then there is the issue of bringing an organ contaminated with a novel virus to a host that by necessity must be immunosuppressed in order to prevent rejection of the transplant.
