Supposedly, it was outrage over this incident that lead to the "Candlelight movement" that would eventually balloon into the mass protests that forced Park to step down but now the Special Prosecutor's Office is ending their investigation, and a memorial for the victims is getting demolished (allegedly for a renovation of the site it's part of)

The multiple coups in living memory. The weirdo chaebol setup. Such a squiggly little mess of a country that it reminds me of ireland in many ways.
