It's hard in a relatively small community like this to remember who complains about what and how. To pretend a fanbase as large as WWE (even it shrunk a lot since 2014!) is so monolithic that these complaints are from the same type of fan let alone the same group of fans is so silly.

That and it all seemed like a pre-emptive attempt to hobble AEW's potential viewership, where I wanted a non-WWE alternative company to succeed on a national / international scale.

I mean, yeah, this is always going to be the main issue with complaining about the fans as a rhetorical device. Large groups of people look monolithic but that is an illusion, and there are people who deffo called the high water mark at each of those points but that is kind of why it qualifies for this thread as a bad take. It's an easy bad take to make, but not everyone is hunting for dingers.

There was definitely a point where NXT was good. I don't remember what year it was but they were taping it in very large blocks, which was good! It meant there was continuity and structure in the product. I wanna say it was when Kevin Owens and Sami were still there but hell if I can remember what year that was. I just remember takeover was in Dallas that year and I was a bit pissed I couldn't go. We actually ended up driving to like, Tulsa to go to an NXT house show and had a blast when Joe and Balor were still there (the first time). I think Nakamura had just shown up and Andrade was still there too. I feel like it was 2016-2017 but I could be wrong.
