Jake Paul won that fight 6-2, that was no split decision, but I think we've seen a cap on Paul's general level. Tyron Woodley is 5'9, almost 40, showed no head movement and threw almost no punches and had 0 jab, and still almost knocked Paul out in the 4th round. Paul presents a reasonable facsimile of a boxer, but the 48th best cruiserweight in the world still knocks him out.

yeah which is why he mentioned retiring.he know what happens if he fights a boxer.

And I think my head is burning,
And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye

And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

Yeah. I think if anything's next for Jake Paul it's Tommy Fury because that's a fight they can sell as risky against a legit boxer with a recognizable name. (FWIW Tommy is the 273rd best light heavyweight in the world according to boxrec). But honestly at the moment I would favor the Tommy of last night to win that fight. And I thought Tommy looked pretty bad.

Jake started his career late in life compared to when most successful pro boxers do, and he doesn't have the luxury of fighting off tv in development fights to sharpen his skills. He's not ever gonna hit Canelo level. So his career longevity depends a lot on how successful he is at talking himself up into high profile drama matches and how willing his audience is to see him fight those drama matches knowing he won't ever be a real contender.

"Patel"? Fuck you.
Not a surprise at all. He's not a real boxer and moving a step up beyond a washed little 40 year old UFC guy would have almost certainly seen him take an L. This takes the pressure off and lets him come back again for one-off special events against people as good or worse than washed Tyron Woodley.

Thankfully this should also mean that I can stop being aware of Jake Paul.

Most fun I've had in years.

Now the attention turns to who is next. The natural choice is Tommy Fury but he looked so bad against Taylor it seems the names that are being talked about the most are Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. Iirc both are still on UFC contracts but maybe if the numbers turn out right for this (I was a buyer!) then maybe Uncle Dana will see the light

Edit: On an less comical note Oscar Valdez popped for banned substance but since his fight scheduled for next week against Robinson Conceicao is being held at a tribal casino in the Phoenix area it's just happening because they deserve to be repaid after what they've suffered at the hands of the white man. Or they just want money. Who knows. also I should probably give Reservation Dogs a shot

Joshua-Usyk is in three weeks. I don't see Usyk having the firepower to go toe-to-toe with the champ, and he's getting a bit too old (in boxing years) for his speed to carry him through.
