FORUMS USER 1135 posted:One of my wife's friends from graduate school died of covid (unvaxed, in his 40s). His church he preached at is having a memorial today that they are live streaming so she tuned in. There is a full 15-20 person choir and band singing, unmasked, right behind the casket where the line up is, probably at least 70-100 people attending this is like when Obama would drone strike the funeral of someone he drone striked

Yeah, if you want to manufacture your way out of a problem, you need to focus on the things you don't need much training to use. In this case, that's rapid tests and respirators. Which of course also lines up with the "manufacture the thing that solves the problem when it's cheapest and easiest to solve it" rather than trying to diving save people whose organs have already been turned into surf&turf

The Nobel Peace Prize bit is mostly true Nobel Prize Press Release 2015 posted:William C. Campbell, an expert in parasite biology working in the USA, acquired Ōmura’s Streptomyces cultures and explored their efficacy. Campbell showed that a component from one of the cultures was remarkably efficient against parasites in domestic and farm animals. The bioactive agent was purified and named Avermectin, which was subsequently chemically modified to a more effective compound called Ivermectin. Ivermectin was later tested in humans with parasitic infections and effectively killed parasite larvae (microfilaria) (Figure 3). Collectively, Ōmura and Campbell’s contributions led to the discovery of a new class of drugs with extraordinary efficacy against parasitic diseases. Just for, ya know, worms. Not viruses. I'm not sure if there's any differences between those two things though so it's probably fine.
