Their first EP had a diagram inside of it with instructions on how to make a Molotov cocktail. That part about them having photographs and writings that were anti-government made me chuckle, I’m not really surprised by that at all. My "if I were a cop," in that statement was definitely more, "if I were a dumb, small-town cop looking for something to do". A guy in my town got busted for "potentially having terrorist supplies" that turned out to be a bag of camera equipment.

I'm less surprised that small-town Oklahoma cops put them through the ringer after getting a call than I am that some random guy suspected a bunch of normal-looking white people were terrorists enough to call the cops on them. Even in the context of post-9/11 hysteria, I have no idea what could have prompted that.

I have to imagine GY!BE had some really choice stickers on their cello case and amps in 2003. You see a van of canadian hippies with instrument cases with lefty stickers on big boxes and a poo poo ton of cords and I can totally see someone with a stick rammed up their rear end calling the cops.

The photos of communications towers was 100% just their merch. Album covers, posters, etc. And given how anti-state they are, yeah I bet all their cases and crates had some stickers that would get a peckerwood cop all bothered. I can also see a little more sensitivity about that in Oklahoma given the OKC bombing.
