Miracle man and the authority always made more sense for superhero comics.

Imagine being Superman and knowing nukes existed.

Why would you allow that to continue?

Why not become a benevolent dictator when the alternative is surely ruin?

Am I correct in understanding that the USA has no centralised database for who is/isn't vaccinated? Because if the only real record is a bit of cardboard you have then get a third 'first dose' and just write it onto your legit card as a booster. How is that not absolutely as legitimate as getting the nurse to do the same thing? Stop being legalistic sticklers, it's a pandemic and for once your rotten shambles of a country is giving you the ability to do something useful for free. All of the politicians and billionaires are boosted the gently caress up, they're happy to give it to 'immunocompromised' people so clearly there's very little to no additional known risk of side effects or anything and there's plenty of anecdotal evidence of people going full Max Titer and getting more than 3 doses. I literally don't see the downside, when you know those shots are going into the bin if they're not used anyway and the vaccination rate over there has really dropped off.

It's illegal for the federal government to keep such a database thanks to Ron Paul lol

Went to pick up takeout for dinner and the drat place was full with a 2 hour wait. On top of it the takeout pickup section had a business douche who couldn’t wear his mask inside the restaurant for 5 min then as soon as he got out took it off completely while waiting for the elevator. It was all annoying and I’m over it, won’t be going there again.

I’ll choose the neighborhood dumpling place instead.

You have to admit; everyone knew and said that our defeat by this virus was inevitable, even from the very first discovered case. We all knew and said that it was impossible to fight back, so why pretend otherwise?

I mean, the optimum end goal was to develop a vaccine and get to a point where getting infected by SARS-CoV-2 didn't have a 2% chance of killing you.

Somehow, no one foresaw that America is a failed demon cracker nation, and that our President at the time was going to turn it into such a clusterfuck that, instead of gradually reducing the novelty of the virus and controlling it to a point where it was significantly more survivable, we forced it into a corner and turned it into a monster that's going to just keep coming back and killing people en masse.

Just because something is endemic doesn't mean it's harmless. Smallpox was endemic, and so was plague. Ebola is endemic in animal reservoirs in Africa.

in so much as going to Applebee’s makes them happy

Well I have 2 answers to this. One is that if I were to say I want to eliminate hunger, that doesn't mean I never want anyone to experience any hunger. If someone feels hungry because dinner's not ready yet or they got up late and skipped breakfast that's not really the problem I mean when I say I wanna eliminate hunger. 100% happiness all the time doesn't sound healthy to me any more than being full 100% of the time would.

The second I'm not the best at explaining this but going to Applebees is not real happiness. Not even taking a dig at Applebees, I'm saying that if going out to restaurants is the difference between happiness and not, then that's not happiness. Even when I was depressed I could eat a tasty meal or play video games and experience momentary pleasure. And experiencing those little bursts of pleasure helped get me through those days. But that's all just transient pleasure, it's not happiness. It's the circuses part of bread and circuses. Going to restaurants and playing video games and whatnot should be things that happen on top of a baseline happiness. Our society basically pokes holes in our psyches so they can sell us disposable plugs to fill em, so it's not surprising that people are going crazy when deprived of the things they've been conditioned to "need", but filling those fabricated needs is not what I worry about.

Irritating thing about the defector article is yeah that’s great that Virginia Tech requires vaccinations but many universities don’t and are still flooding stadiums with zero restrictions.

South Carolina is one of the worst per capita covid locations on the planet rn and still masks were only “strongly encouraged”. Add in tailgating, local bars and schools and we’re definitely “in a different position relative to the COVID-19 pandemic than we were this time last year“ but not necessarily for the better.

We’re playing Russian roulette that this wave burns out soon and we can get back to vaccine summer, but we keep adding bullets to the loving revolver.

American life is so miserable we try to bury the meaninglessness of our existence with food and violence. The life of the average American citizen is devoid of value and meaning. America is devoid of truly fulfilling original art and culture. We take in from the outside world, remake art and culture in our own demonic self-hating image, and then regurgitate it out onto a plate to be lapped up and regurgitated over and over again. No one in this nation has a reason to live.

We just fill the pointless days of waiting for oblivion with empty physical pleasures. Empty husks of flesh waiting for a fulfillment only death can grant. Ants swarming over the rotten husk of Capitalism, their queen.

my covid escape has been cooking elaborate meals or huge quantities of food and freezing meal sized portions mostly. i can cook 6 quarts of chana masala or 32 veggie burgers in an afternoon. meal prepping can easily take up the entire weekend if i try to make two weeks worth of food at once.

i tried getting takeout the other day but i can't stomach restaurant food anymore.
