I’m guessing the numbers before served as a quick glance to know if someone is outmatched (lb on slot) or something without having to memorize every single players number every single week on the defense. I don’t know that much about what goes through a QBs head pre-snap but I can only assume a vet like Brady does quite a bit of analysis very quickly.
