"WHO HAS TEN MAN TAG MATCHES IN THE OPENING MATCH?" Gee, Jim. That's not much more than six man tags which a certain company had a championship belt for.

I don't know Jim, a company trying to sell a PPV by showcasing ten of their top talents?

What gets me, and it shouldn't because it's me talking about Jim Cornette in the Year of Our Lord 2021 and I know better, is complaining that the first match is now apparently when you should go get your soda and popcorn and not watching the match that sets the tone for the entire card. Pretty sure the Midnights were in more than their share of hot openers but I guess I should have gone to get my giant foam finger then instead of watching.

TheKingslayer

Wouldn't the fans knowing the first match is the time to get popcorn or whatever imply they're aware this poo poo is scripted and wouldn't get a surprise awesome match? But, Jim, I thought the fans in your day were marks that thought it was all real?

Someone posted a text summary of his actual All Out review. Some real dumb stuff in here:

quote:

First comment: We had to suffer through a lot but we got a lot at the end.

Said Eddie Kingston vs Miro was not bad but it really hurt Jon Moxley vs Satoshi Kojima because they did all the same spots. Said AEW should have asked for someone more relevant than Kojima from their new partner. Doesn't get how bringing in Suzuki is going to get new fans interested. All he comments is "why?".

Baker vs Statlander. Went for a toilet break and a sprite. Missed the match. Asked Brain Last about it and he gave it a favourable review.

Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks. Did not enjoy the Lucha Bros entrance. Said that they tried to "kill the event". Fast forwarded a lot. Was shocked to see a thumbtack shoe. Complained that the crossbody off the top of the cage didn't make sense. Said Penta jumping up straight after the spot was really dumb. And didn't get how a 25ft crossbody wasn't the finish itself. Said he couldn't keep track of what was going on and doesn't know how people can like it.

Women's Casino Battle Royal. Noted Ruby Soho won. Talked about entrance music for a while. Cornette didn't watch. Cornette said he would have prefer a straight Ruby Soho vs Thunder Rosa match.

MJF vs Jericho. Said this match was very slow because of Jericho. MJF is a great heel. Hated the second referee overturning the result spot. Said it should have been the finish and having MJF win would have been better. They both say Jericho cannot go anymore. They both LOVE MJF a lot. "MJF got as much out of Jericho as any wrestler could".

Punk vs Darby. Said everything made sense. Best match he's ever seen Darby Allin have. Like that Punk worked Darby's back after the ring post spot. Punk's poo poo looked good. Loved the GTS on Darby with him falling to the outside. LOVED the Punk sitting up spot on the coffin drop. "Great Job". Very much enjoyed it. Said now they need to bring the rest of the roster up to this standard.

Paul Wight vs QT Marshall. Said it was perfect placing to bring the crowd back down between the 2 big matches. Didn't agree that Wight should have been wasted having a match with QT. Likened it to bringing an aging Andre the Giant back to face a conquistador just for the sake of it.

Enjoyed the Malakai Black promo. Want a Punk vs Malakai Black match down the road.

Christian vs Omega. Started out as a hockey fight. Goes through the match, saying he just doesn't like Omega's moves and spots. Said if a manager is in the ring it should be a DQ as per the traditional rules. Did not enjoy the match. Brian Last enjoyed it. Didn't really give reasons, just sort of complained about it because "Omega".

Post Main Event Segment. The Elite start getting the heat on Christian Cage. Said he understands Jungleboy and Luchasaurus coming out because you want to push these guys but verbatim he said "I don't get why you send the dwarf (Marko Stunt) out with them". Said when you see Marko you just want to laugh. Cornette said by putting Adam Cole with The Elite he has been ruined because he has to suffer watching the other members of The Elite to see him. "Putting Cole in a group straight away diminishes his Aura because he's no longer an outsider, he's one of the boys. It makes his appearance less special". Danielson appears said he's glad these guys are here but worried that they're relying on surprises.

I want to highlight this in particular because this may be the thing that made me roll my eyes the most.

Said Eddie Kingston vs Miro was not bad but it really hurt Jon Moxley vs Satoshi Kojima because they did all the same spots.

he hates rap, if anybody does a flip he fast forwards, hates matches with no rules, hates hardcore stuff, if there is more than one person moving at a time he doesn't know what's going on, is racist and the young bucks have insulted him to his face

basically a perfect storm of a match to make cornette mad. the only way to get him to watch less of a match is if there's women wrestling.

Cole IS one of the boys, that was the entire point of how things were set up.

And a manager in the ring being a DQ when they don't really do anything is stupid too. Christ, I remember managers jumping in, getting smacked and the match continuing happening in the 90's. Since Jim likes to talk about realism or whatever, wouldn't the rules being enforced that way just cause heels to have people interfere in front of the ref in every match to retain their titles?

It was more egregious that the ref didn't eject Don for helping set up a table imo.

An ejection would be a totally reasonable way to book it. Or have some stipulation where Kenny loses the title if any of the Elite interfere.

Edit: As a reason for there being no interference, not as a way for the title to change hands.

There's like, one or two semi-reasonable points in among the reams of horseshit there. Like, arguably you could've spaced out the Mox and Miro matches because while they didn't repeat spots, they were both 'strong style' big meaty slap fests. His point about getting someone more relevant than Kojima isn't crazy but also is ignorant of the fact that clearly they were angling for Tanahashi until Covid hosed New Japan and they had to bring him home.

And the crossbody off the cage with Penta popping up is kind of fair, but like, it was the finish, who the gently caress is bothered when it goes straight to the finish.

Penta popping up like that is my only criticism for that really fun match

i think the spot is fine but maybe he should've staggered a bit after jumping up and then fall on one knee or something after the finisher is done? make it look like it took him his all to hold together for long enough to help Rey finish the fight with one last move

i don't know a lot about wrestling so maybe this is actually a bad idea

No. It's because women can't wrestle, and are better as valets/managers.

He still wants AEW to fail. He just thinks they're better than all the nonsense WWE is doing right now.

Brian Last is coming around though. If you listen to any Corncob clips (please don't, it's not worth it), you can tell he likes AEW and is trying not to praise it too much in front of Jim.
