Tony Khan at the post media scrum talked up the one person in the world the truly, truly hates japanese women wrestlers and says no foreign women can ever draw in the united states: Jim Cornette.

"*“As somebody I look up to said, wrestling fans watch the wrestling programme to see the wrestlers wrestle. And even if I don’t always follow everything he says, or haven’t always made him happy, that is probably the person I’ve learned the most about the wrestling business from. I don’t think he would probably take a lot of credit for me as his protege, but the fact is he’s right about that.”"*

Jim Cornette has started to warm up more and more to Khan since Bobby Eatons passing, they've been in communication more and more and one of the things Khan wasnt fan/or didnt know about before AEW was Joshi wrestling. That was Kenny's idea. Now that Khan wants Cornette to say more good things about him so he feels like he has another dad paying attention to him, the joshi are never going to be on tv again.

Ex Champs Riho and Shida? Dark and Elevation

Emi Sakura being able to start a joshi faction? not gonna happen.

Even after DDT's president Sanshiro Takagi said that ANY TJPW (and DDT Women's) talent are available for AEW to use at a moments notice? not going to happen.

Tony Khan working on the other Bushiroad forbidden door to open up talks with Rossy Ogawa even though he has multiple ins through Kenny Omega (helped train them in the early stardom days) , Dave Meltzer (Friends with Fumi Saito who Rossy Ogawa is great friends with and they talk over wrestling frequently. I believe hes even friendly with Rossy himself), Any NJPW wrestler hes currently working with, the njpw and bushiroad backstage people? Nope. Sorry. they arent non-asian enough for Jim Corne- I mean Tony Khan.

In the meantime I recommend to people who like Joshi wrestling but will miss it on AEW to check out TJPW's streaming service, Stardom's streaming service and even some of the smaller promotion's like Ice Ribbon, Oz Academy and SEAdlinning

Did some quick back of a napkin calculations, and turns out that the AEW women's title has been held by a Japanese lady for approximately 60% of the time that it has been in existence.

So Tony better shape up his racism, dude seems p bad at it.

I know it's probably been brought up a zillion times itt but I really don't understand the WWE weirdos. This isn't the same as console wars where most people can't afford to buy every console so they buy what their friends buy and then poo poo talk other consoles because of dumbass consumerist tribalism. Everyone can watch all the WWE and AEW content every week if they have the time and they can also watch content from other promotions if they have the extra time. This poo poo makes no sense to me. Even when I was a complete moron college grad 20 years ago my friends and I would have Monday night watch parties and flip channels between Raw and Nitro and then watch ECW we taped off TV and just had a good time without choosing a promotion to defend for no reason.

What they really need to do is keep teasing a rift between Jamie and Britt but have them always get past it and stay together. Just piss off every idiot fan wanting to telegraph a breakup. Then when people least expect it have one of them turn.

I think it'll eventually make more sense for Britt to turn on Jamie once Jamie gets more confident and doesn't want to be treated like a sidekick anymore. Again, assuming they ever break them up which they absolutely don't need to do.

When I was a kid in the 1980s, I watched whatever wrestling I could. WWF, NWA, AWA, WCCW, Mid-South/UWF, etc. As I got older I developed specific tastes and I started favoring some promotions over others, but I never had "brand loyalty" where I'd only watch one over the other and that was it. If I quit watching a promotion, it was because their characters/gimmicks weren't to my taste (or, since it's the 1980s we're talking about here, because they eventually folded up), not because "it's not [whatever] brand of wrestling".

E: as opposed to nowadays, where I'm actively rooting for WWE to fail, and have been long before AEW was even a thing :v:

I read somewhere that for a truly toxic fan culture to form then the fanbase must be aware on some level that the object of their fandom is actually bad on some level. If the thing you like is legit good then you can just argue against criticism, but if you know it's true and what you like is so garbage that you can't just embrace the badness then your options are p much to stop being a fan or get super mad and start denying reality.

The WWE fanbase seem to mostly have chosen option two and three, and by now it's been winnowed down to the most bitter hard core.

Probably not any time soon, but it seems like Hayter's character is that she's there to get paid and beat people up for Britt while Britt and Reba seem to try and want her to become a friend/mindless minion. For instance, not being on board doing the DMD hand sign thing. It kind of feels like on the past couple of shows, she's become less serious and is starting to gel more with them but I could still see them pulling the trigger of Hayter not wanting to deal with the bullshit anymore and breaking away. Again, not anytime soon but they're definitely planting little seeds here and there for possible future stuff if they want to go that way.

One or two matches isn't a feud.

Also I kinda wish AEW feuds/programs were longer but I also don't necessarily want the WWE thing where feuds last 6 months.

flatluigi
Apr 23, 2008

here come the planes
the thing with aew feuds is that a lot of feuds aren't really Done and they'll come back in the future if needed b/c it's all "these characters specifically don't like each other." you don't need to have four or five matches between the same two people to underline that

STAC Goat

Watching you sleep.

Butt first, let's
check the feeds.

Yeah, a lot of AEW feuds take an organic path. The wrestlers cross paths because they're on their own journeys for titles or to back up friends or whatever. Something like the HFO/Best Friends feud is actually kind of weird and stands out in AEW. Its just two sides constantly battling with no clear goal in mind. The more common and natural path is that like two teams clash in the division and then they clash again in title contention and then they really hate each other so they have a grudge match. And the fun part of that is not only does it flow better and you don't get burnt out on a by the numbers feud but a couple of weeks or months down the line they clash again because of a tournament or battle royal or backing someone up or whatever. So not only did you never get sick of it, but it keeps being fun.
