Mindy is hitting right about where Hurricane Michael did three years ago. Might do a bit more damage than a 45mph sustained storm usually would. Weakened trees more prone to falling, etc.

The Gulf is just an absolute tinderbox right now and forever. The whole thing has nearly 90° water temps and tropical systems start to stir at anything over 80°.

Isn't the near imminent shutdown of the AMOC gonna basically make hurricanes an all day every day event in the Gulf coast but kill the storms the second they go east of the panhandle because the north Atlantic is gonna be permacold?

former-hurricane extratropical storms have been smashing Ireland and Scotland forever. In 2017 Ophelia was a big deal, took out the power to 400k homes and killed 3 people. It broke the rainfall records that were previously set by hurricane charley and there were definitely warnings about it, we had flood warnings in the far southeast of england. Everyone posted their damaged patio furniture WE WILL REBUILD memes.
