That Works posted:I honestly don't know tons about Chipman so just second hand info but my SRA / Leftist gun-type people did not want Chipman involved because of his role in Waco. I haven't heard any other critiques of him related to anything else. Being involved with Waco is good enough of a bar to any prominent position in government for me. Chipman also claimed that the Branch Davidians tried to shoot down ATF helicopters with Barrett .50 cal rifles, which didn’t happen. The only thing I supported on Chipman’s agenda was going after shady sellers and straw purchasers. Everything else is the same unimaginative mid-1990s bullshit that centrist Dems have a harder time quitting than heroin.

Whole lotta whining from relatives on FB trying to frame this as a religious issue but not having much grasp of their own doctrine. Some are trying to claim it would be a mark of the beast. Baffling how so many hate the governor and any form of government but chose to work for the state anyway.

Nah, just so severely outshone by an exceptionally good first movie. They are at worst “meh” actuon movies. Two was probably the worst of the three, which set people up to hate three before the first scene was shot.

I'd respect their position a tiny bit if it were slightly grounded in reality but just a bunch of nonsense about totalitarianism, horse medicine, and plandemics. Yeah it's ridiculous. Guessing many will get with it when they run the numbers and realize losing income/benefits isn't worth it.

Seeing all these unions start making noise about vax mandates has done what 10,000 Trump era opinion columns couldn't: convince me that the unionized working class is majority right wing. You need to be so fully Facebook poisoned right wing to be anti vax, and it's still making an impact on union activity. Hard to overstate how incredibly hosed that political situation is. High income free market liberals versus working class right wing loons is not compatible with any sort of democracy long term, and both those camps are hostile to any meaningful action on climate change or economic redistribution.

WA isn't doing great but is somewhere in the middle. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/covid-cases.html

It doesn't help that the sequels were godsawful. Last 2 decades, and let’s go reboots and not sequels/anthologies, etc, but retellings of old tales. Spider-Man (2002) The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-man: Into the spider-verse Spider-Man: Far From Home The Green Knight Planet of the Apes Shin Godzilla Dredd The Departed The Hills Have Eyes Batman Begins Star Trek Man of Steel (barely makes list) True Grit Casino Royale King Kong (squeaker, but people liked it; I did not) It (never saw it, but people liked it) Jane Eyre Emma Really just a lot of good Austen adaptations! Little Women Dawn of the Dead 3:10 to Yuma Ocean’s 11 There are a ton of good horror remakes, but I’m not big enough horror fan to really dive into it. Every single Shakespeare movie or show is a reboot/remake, and I’m sure good ones appeared in the last two decades. Shame Romeo + Juliet falls outside the 2 decade window.
