And the mercy seat is awaiting,
And I think my head is burning,
And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth,
And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

honestly i am very interested to see who THE NEW NXT puts their top belt on now that it could conceivably be someone other than the new hottest free agent signing. who is the 2021 equivalent of big e langston or bo dallas

Three years?

He's been fired, re-hired, came back as an enforced, returned to the ring, won the belt and vacated it all in the last month and a half.
If you want to get to the down and dirty, his career got derailed in TNA when Kurt Angle showed up. Once TNA had Angle, Joe was never the same again.

Joe was criminally underused in wwe, even being a guy that was upper midcard the whole time. He had one of the best auras on the roster and was THE best promo they had for his whole run. He should have been top guy even if for just a couple of years.

There was a period, from 2004 to 2005, where Samoa Joe was the best wrestler in the world. Not in the indies, not in North America, the world. Was thinking about that a few minutes ago and how like that's 16-17 years ago now and it was just a blip. He never lost his aura but simultaneously he is a victim of his time period being when the only real game in town was WWE who saw him as a fat guy thus ending up in TNA which was just bad, and a pioneer for really popularising strong style in indie wrestling as well as influencing a lot that came after him and without him wrestling wouldn't be where it is to this day. His legacy will be one of all the talent in the world but it was a short run and because of when he came up - he was a trailblazer but will never make any Halls of Fame.

If ROH had a HOF he's a 1st ballot guy. Same with Danielson, Ki, Homicide, Punk and Chris Daniels.

Let me start off with a basket of chips. Then move on to the pollo asado taco.
Honestly, if they had the (great) balls (of fire) to let Joe choke out Lesnar, win the title, and have a dominant run at the top people would have eaten that poo poo up and it would have been amazing.

Clearly he couldn't have been the best in the world in 2005 if he lost to Kobashi :colbert:

e: but yeah, goddamn, he had all of those classics with Styles, Daniels, Punk, Danielson, Necro Butcher and Kobashi in the space of a year. That's more all-time great matches in a year than some wrestlers produce in their entire life. Easily one of the greatest of all time, and it's such a shame that he's ended his career on such a massive bum note.

Yeah but its RoH, AEW would have a more reputable Hall of Fame right now if they opened one.

Also I cannot find the original AJ Styles TNA plauqe image, only the parodies of it. Was going to use that to illustrate and RoH Hall of Fame but did find this.

I don't agree at all, ROH only became lovely in the last few years, AEW opening up arguably hurt them even more than it did WWE.

ROH were a standard bearer for actual loving wrestling from the time they opened until their downturn in 2018.

You have more fun as a follower. But you make more money as a leader.

The Brock reign that year killed both Joe and Braun on the main roster. Both should have held the title that year and it would have solidified them as main event rivals for Roman.
