Neat old film about how anti-aircraft shells were made in WW2:

It's amazing how much work it takes to make each shell, but I also find it interesting that there doesn't seem to be a lot of highly specialized equipment. Mostly basic lathes, drills, presses and such.

We didn't have robotic automation so much as we had a lot of humans willing to put their non-robot fingers very close to the bomb lathes

I love the ads youtube feeds me on this kind of video.
Watching a video about making something? You probably want to hear about our industrial wire-stripper or a new, affordable metal 3d printer (starting at only 99,000usd!)

The danger isn't so much the criticality, it's the way that the UF6 releases clouds of hydrogen fluoride when exposed to moist air. Clouds of hydrofluoric acid are very spicy indeed.

Yep, I'd be much more worried about the acid part of that than the radioactive part.

From a process standpoint the amount of productivity on this line between third degree burns seems like it would be pretty low.

I only know quisling as a term for a collaborator/traitor?

He had been one of the workers but when they put him in charge he pulled up the ladder really fuckin quick. To be clear, he cried because he was a little boot licking turd and he knew how much poo poo he was in and how much of his job he'd have to actually start doing now.
