Oh this is good news. I’ve been waiting for this to pass because I want to add panels to my house.

I love the “local control” aspect.

When a local government agency actively harms its community, outside government agencies may step in to stop that harm.

If a county decided not to enforce drunk driving laws, do not be surprised when the ISP steps in and starts getting people after someone gets hurts badly.

Edit: I also read that a group of parents are suing Teutopolis schools over the mask and quarantine rules as well as ISBE putting them on probation/removing recognition. Their whole plan is for the school board to not defend itself in court so the judge will have no choice but to block the EO and ISBE rules. Also, since the school board is just following the judge’s orders, they cannot be punished or sued for anything.

Very much a “one weird trick” to get around any law or regulation.

Update on stupid lawsuits:

Tom Devore, the lawyer who is racing up and down the state to sue everything possible concerning pandemic restrictions, brought a lawsuit against Teutopolis schools stating that masks are medical devices which constitute as a form of quarantine and schools do not have the authority to force students to quarantine or wear masks.

Judge ruled in his favor with a TRO against Teutopolis.

https://capitolfax.com/2021/09/15/the-fourth-circuit-strikes-again-with-pro-virus-transmission-order/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

quote:

Three children in Effingham County can’t be forced to wear masks without an official quarantine order from the county health department, a judge ruled Wednesday.

The attorney who brought the case [Tom DeVore] anticipates more such cases across the state.

On Wednesday, DeVore took a different case a step further and successfully argued in Illinois’ Fourth Judicial Circuit that masks are a medical device that can’t be required without quarantine orders.

“Plaintiffs have shown they will suffer irreparable harm if an injunction does not issue, namely the children being refused access to their education unless they unwillingly utilize a device to allegedly prevent the spread of an infectious disease even in the absence of a quarantine order against them,” the judge’s temporary order says. “Nothing in this order shall prohibit the local health department, or the Illinois Department of Health, from issuing a lawful order of quarantine against any or all of the children as allowed by law.”

The Teutopolis school district, where the three students attend classes, did challenge the issue, DeVore said.

Found out that my daughters’ 6th grade teacher is leaving. Do not know if it is just coincidence or if she is upset about the school’s mask mandate or the vaccine mandate.

I am guessing that she will tell the students. However, since she first met us not wearing a mask and my daughter was out of school after testing positive (along with 5 other students), I will not miss her if the reason is either of those.

Yeah, the Blago love is when I realized that the people are okay with being scammed as long as it makes them feel good. Almost like drug abusers.

I had a nurse in the area share a hospital post about monoclonal antibodies with the comment “I am glad that someone is talking about this. I was just tired of the silence. There are treatments available to fight Covid but they only want us to get the vaccine.”

I wonder how it feels when they get the bill for the treatment.

National Democrats are loving trash. They are effectively pro business Republicans from 30-35 years ago with slightly less racism.

When they lose massively in the midterms they are all not going to understand why and probably blame progressives again.

You have to give the GOP some credit, their members do what their base wants. Now their base is the garbage of the world and what they want is often evil and disgusting but they don’t have problems with keeping their support.

I am really glad Pritz at least doesn’t have the political instincts of a paper bag like many Democrats and has been a pretty good Governor.

Gambling's been pretty lucrative for the state:

quote:

Record lottery sales helped boost Illinois gaming tax revenue to $1.36 billion for fiscal year 2021, which ended June 30, up 11% from the previous year, according to an annual wagering report released by the state this week.
Now that's down from 2019 because the pandemic, and its supposed people turned to the lottery because casinos were closed.

As far as weed goes:

From here:

quote:

February 13, 2020

In December the Civic Federation explored how Illinois, its local governments and other states tax recreational cannabis. In this post we will look at how those cannabis tax revenues will be spent by the State of Illinois and compare those priorities to other states.

The Illinois Department of Revenue projects the State will collect $57 million in FY2020 from cannabis taxes and licensing fees and $140.5 million from taxes alone in FY2021, which starts July 1, 2020. But how will those revenues be spent? The legislation that legalized adult use recreational cannabis and subsequent trailer bills specifically outline how the State’s cannabis tax proceeds will go to pay for regulation and various programs. These allocations do not apply to local government cannabis tax revenues.

First, the proceeds of the cannabis taxes go to defray the administrative costs of the State agencies responsible for administering the program. Taxes and fees from cannabis are to be deposited into a new Cannabis Regulation Fund, which then pays these costs. The State agencies and offices that will receive funding from Cannabis Regulation Fund for direct and indirect costs associated with the implementation, administration, and enforcement of the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act include:

Governor’s Office for the Cannabis Regulation Oversight Officer (sometimes known as the “Cannabis Czar”) and its staff and activities;
Department of Revenue
Department of State Police
Department of Financial and Professional Regulation;
Department of Agriculture;
Department of Public Health;
Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity; and
Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.

Next, a monthly transfer of funds appropriated to defray costs incurred to facilitate petitions for expungement of minor cannabis offenses will be made to the Cannabis Expungement Fund for:

State courts;
Illinois Attorney General;
State’s Attorneys;
Civil legal aid; and
Department of State Police.
After the above allocations are made, any remaining funds will be distributed as follows:

2% to the Drug Treatment Fund for the Department of Human Services to develop a drug, tobacco and alcohol public education campaign and analyze the public health impacts of legalizing the recreational use of cannabis;
8% to the Local Government Distributive Fund to fund crime prevention programs, training, and enforcement and prevention efforts related to the illegal cannabis market and driving under the influence of cannabis;
25% to the Criminal Justice Information Projects Fund for the Restore, Reinvest, and Renew Program to provide grants and assistance to communities harmed by discriminatory drug laws;
20% to the Department of Human Services Community Services Fund to address substance abuse and prevention and mental health concerns;
10% to the Budget Stabilization Fund; and
35%, or any remaining balance, to the General Revenue Fund.
