Not sure if the thread's already brought this up, but apparently Fox's streaming service is bringing back COPS.

I'm sure the new incarnation is going to be different, what with Fox's flair, the brand new kind of cop worship that we've seen spring up, and the lack of really any FCC oversight you'd have to worry about on a normal channel, but I'm not sure to what extent. Also curious how long it takes them to participate in and/or cover up a copmurder. One year?

COPS already has a couple famous legal failures for the Police under its belt, because it turns out a show that records police being power tripping assholes might get used by someone's defense attorney.

Correct, there's some argument to be made that putting cops on camera improves their conduct, which leads to the justification behind body cams.

"Live PD" is the only really successful variation that I can think of, and it's slightly more problematic in that it turns specific cops into minor celebrities.

Like I had this argument with a family member a few weeks back where they were angry that you needed proof of vaccination to get into a restaurant. "I think its wrong that they're acting like the vaccination solves everything." Oh good, I agree. We should still be taking social distancing, masking, and testing precautions. "Oh no, I don't want that." But you just said we're still in danger with the vaccine. "Yes, the liberals are lying and saying we're safe." But your solution to that is to just let the unvaccinated people into the restaurant too which would only put everyone at greater risk. "..." There is no actual solution, its just cognitive dissonance playing out in real time and at war with the cult think.

If it was a non-communicable disease then maybe it'd be a different story, but their lack of vaccinations can harm vulnerable people who genuinely can't get the vaccine so it isn't just a matter of "it only affects people I hate." It can affect people we like, too.

John my man, I got some bad news for you about how right wingers view the CDC. They would claim this number is made up, that it's fake news, it's trying to trick people into getting a dangerous experimental mind control jab, that it's actually the vaccinated that are dying or even that hospitals are just purposely letting people die of covid for sweet sweet money.
