I told her I will not forget or forgive the awful way he treated me both as an employee and a family member until he buys a flight to Portland, crawls on his hands and knees up the sidewalk to my front door, and begs me for forgiveness. He has never shown contrition for a single rear end in a top hat thing he did to others in the past. I've been horrible to others, too, but I've been begging for forgiveness and trying to make things right for years now. He hasn't. That doesn't forgive my sins but he hasn't even tried.

There's literally nothing you can do that will improve the situation, just flat out refuse to even acknowledge his existence and move on. Maybe one day in the future you'll have the opportunity to do something horrifically spiteful and mean for no reason other than revenge but until then just pretend he's dead.

I work for government which is its own special kind of stupid, but our director is a catastrophically bad administrator. I could fill pages with dumb poo poo we do. However, the best summation I can come up with is that it was decided to make a committee to improve employee morale since everyone is so miserable (this was pre-COVID). Let's see, what can we do? I know, let's have a pizza party in every office! Everyone likes pizza! We had to pay if we wanted pizza.

Malicious compliance: if asked by management to do something on a day off (not because it's super duper urgent, but because they didn't check your agenda of course, it takes at least 3 clicks), and you do it, it's not only overtime, it's emergency overtime, which pays twice as much as normal overtime. So today I got paid way way too much to look at a powerpoint. How's your day going?

Someone has made a mistake. It is the first time this mistake has happened. Could it just be simple human error? No, and we must ensure that it can NEVER happen again. How do we do that? By having management invent alterations to the current procedures without consulting either the people who perform the work OR the vendor we are working with. Now everyone is confused because the workers don't understand the barely comprehensible changes or why they were made and the vendor doesn't understand what's being asked of them because we just assumed they'd have the information we wanted and could read our minds. We go through this four or five more times until either management finally talks to someone or the whole things gets dropped because someone with a title now has to do some additional work. This happens Every. Single. Time, and over the slightest mishap. It has become clear to me that the people who are in charge of us don't actually know what we do beyond the vaguest of concepts, and they will never take the time to learn. And they wonder why I'm not "part of the (company) family".

At this point I just hope that asking us to come back and work in the office after two years is seen as a cruelty that not even the worst employer could force reasonably upon their staff and I can just keep collecting my paycheck, doing my 30 minutes of assigned daily work, and fuckng off the rest of the time. Good poo poo your work does: pay me a barely living wage for barely working

I found out that: 1) Keeping a browser window open with a Youtube music stream prevents my laptop from kicking me off to the login screen. 2) Closing the laptop lid long enough to disconnect from the VPN, then opening it back up, logging back into Windows, and not moving the mouse before the VPN reconnects prevents Microsoft Teams from setting me as Away. Has been great for days I don't have any work planned.

Like, always overpromised things to external stakeholders, lied about funding, tried to get us to do work we weren't qualified to do, had blatant favourites. But I respected him for one thing. When the organisation tried to regulate Xmas parties (saying you had to do them during lunch, and return to work afterwards, pay for them yourself, and no alcohol was to be served), he just ignored the rules, diverted money from some project and gave us a free afternoon of partying with sometimes a celebration into the night.

One of the hospitals I worked at did Medicare fraud and as part of the settlement, everyone, down to housekeeping, had to do dumb computer based training things on ethics for like, five years. It was multiple choice, so I wrote down and made up a packet with the answers, which to my great amusement did not change the next year. Or the year after that. My packet was very popular.

Couldn't you just write a little app that produces a bit of mouse movement with like Cursor.Position? e: Also, if you have an Arduino Leonardo you can simulate mouse movements, clicks and keyboard presses with an external device. Just in case you're not allowed to run an app. Tarkus fucked around with this message at 00:12 on Sep 22, 2021 |
