babypolis posted:anyone else watching this squid game show on netflix? its pretty good so far, 5 episodes in. kinda similar to the alice in wonderland show that is also on netflix about DEADLY GAMES but while alice veered into inmensely stupid territory quite quickly, this show has been pretty grounded so far and goes in interesting directions with the premise. plus it has insanely high production values, really good acting, good writing etc. its good poo poo personally i dont much care for the characters because they lack meaningful agency every bad thing they do is justified by the circumstances of the game and despite all the characters engaging in nearly identical actions with the same results whether characters are portrayed as good or bad is largely a consequence of how mean they are when they do those actions and the sixth episode is a really blatant offender in this regard the worldbuilding also leans hard on prometheus style well the characters act stupid because the point is that theyre stupid and while this isnt inconsistent with the capitalist adjacent themes in practice its almost impossible to tell whether this is intentional or just bad writing with the vips in the seventh episode and the rules of the fifth game as major examples

I think Ditko was the one comic creator who was fine with being ripped off for his work because he was a diehard libertarian. He thought he signed all the work for hire contracts of his own free will, so Marvel was justified in profiting off it while he saw nothing.

I’ve watched Star Wars visions. it’s ok. individual short reviews: The Duel: A, great animation, cool ambiance Tatooine Rhapsody: F, extremely boring and for six year olds The Twins: C-, eminently skippable The Village Bride: C+, deece animation, meh story, skippable The Ninth Jedi: B, very predictable but well executed T0-B1: F-, for five year olds, bad visual style imo. The Elder: B-, cool fight but nothing to write home about Lop and Ocho: C+, kinda boring, nice to look at, skippable Akakiri: A, fantastic visuals and a melancholic story
