It doesn't explain how you should perform the actions if you needed to apply them irl and wants you to drag around unconscious car wreck victims even when it is not necessary (never do this). There is a very real chance you'll do more harm than good if you emulate what this game shows in a real situation. There are a few good things about this game like looking out for your own safety first. But just take real first aid classes from professionals if you really want to know what to do.

This is out on PC and $40? Whaaaaaaa...??

Watching a stream right now, it looks gorgeous and the animations are very well done (no surprise, coming from a movie animation studio).

I will probably wait for some first impressions, but at first glance, this is a no brainer, even if it's an Epic store exclusive.
A couple more beers and I might impulse buy anyway.

I've played about an hour. It's really good so far. Beautiful game. Got a whole Pikmin thing going on that I didn't know about going in.

I'm so excited for Sable I'm gonna lose my mind. I love my shootmans games, but I've been waiting for another game like Journey or Death Stranding where the combat is either completely absent or has a lesser focus that is just as engaging in that way. I played the demo from earlier this year and adored it.

After playing it all last night, it is a solid game. Absolutely gorgeous, feels like you are playing a pixar movie honestly, and you can see how much care has gone into the game which is an important element for me. I like beautiful and consistent art in a game before all else.

The main focus is exploration, combat, story, and perhaps some very light puzzling. It's not an extremely deep game but they do give you a good number of abilities in combat which allow you to choose your own strategy. You also often need to split your attention between taking out enemies and destroying the blight flowers or whatever they are. It's open world but so far it seems like there is little backtracking, for the most part you just move forward on the path the game sets for you, with small detours to discover secrets and get more of the two in-game currencies. Maybe that will change over time, but I'm also fine with it.

Apparently it is only about 12 hours long, pretty short for a 40 dollar game, but everyone can decide if that is worth it for them. For me it is really cool to basically play as a pixar character, I love how much effort they've put into the visuals, and the combat being a lot better than I expected means it is a good buy.

Ok I played some Sable on the Game Pass and I'm not feeling it. The graphics are the best part (although object/NPC outlines are WAY more defined and visible than in the trailers) but the gameplay itself is pretty outdated imo. They basically sat down and went "so what do you do in open world games? Explore to find some repetitive collectibles and do some fetch quests, right?". You want to get that "probably cool" jet bike? Here are 3 places on the map that you have to get to in order to find the parts for it, there will be a lot of traveling with a slow piece of poo poo starting bike to them and a lot of slow climbing, you will also be sent somewhere else on a fetch quest (collect beetle asses) before you can complete part of the main story fetch quest etc. Maybe Zelda even had similar things in it but it also had enjoyable combat, detailed exploration, puzzles and a few complex systems on top of all of that, it was basically filled with interesting things to do. In this one there's a big empty map with interest points placed here and there, you can collect money and a couple of other collectibles and that's it. Some really great color palettes though that change during the day cycle, overall great work on the visual front.

e: bought it and finished it within 5 hours, skipping only a couple of optional puzzles for later. Maybe 7 hours total to finish up everything at a leisurely pace if you're not a god at these kinda games? Pretty slight, and while it does tickle the zachtronics itch it stops before you really get to do anything out of the box. Most solutions are pretty obvious, and I'm definitely not the best at zach-likes. If you like optimizing puzzles there's some more to squeeze out. I scored pretty bad on most leaderboards.

Pros: nice interface, decent music, clear tutorials and tooltips
Cons: writing & story is solidly meh, no twists at all and is just kinda there. Difficulty is about the same as the tutorial for most zachtronics games, so pretty easy. real time to finish is taken into account for score, which doesn't make sense to me (you can just remember, retry and click faster??).

overall: if you've played all the zachtronics games: eh, buy it on a sale or if you want to support people making more games like this I guess!
If you're new to the 'genre': might be a decent place to start. Definitely fun and easy to get into, just not that challenging for someone used to the type of puzzles.

e2: also, it has absolutely nothing to do with music/modular synths in the game, which made me sad, was hoping for some sick beats. Theres a single very simple puzzle with 3 drum samples, but that's it.

This game has some really good things going on mixed with some pretty bad things. The writing is stellar; the art is incredible (although I do kind of wish for more contrast and some brighter colors occasionally. But the sun coming up and going down, whoooeeee). The world and setting itself is cool and makes you want to explore.

BUT, the camera is a freaking mess, there are definitely bugs here and there which I was worried about after getting out of bounds three times in the demo, and it really doesn't have a ton of GAME. The puzzles are incredibly basic, the main game part is mainly deciding how you are going to get up some mountain. Which, at times, the platforming can be pretty fun. But then after you finish you'll spend 5 minutes driving through desert landscape to get to the next place, and the driving just isn't very stimulating.

I think you will like this game if you REALLY like super chill games that are good to look at, have nice art and writing, and a strange peaceful world to explore. Gameplay-wise, it is just not very stimulating. I'll probably play some more because I want to see some cool spots that you can find, but I don't see myself finishing this game.

Castlevania Advance Collection comes with Harmony of Dissonance, Aria Of Sorrow and Circle Of The Moon. It's also available on Switch and other consoles, where I feel like it makes a BIT more sense because emulating these games on PC is piss easy and you can even make them look better. Still, if you want to be legit, these games are pretty good.

A note for fans of HoMM3 - it is a clone of the HoMM3 world map, but fights are autobattler where you can cast spells and have very minimal control over your minions rather than turn based strategy. How much this matters to you, I don’t know. For me, I’ve been moderately enjoying it but not nearly as much HoMM since you can never feel Super Good for being Super Smart in beating a much stronger enemy by playing smart (read: by using ranged units and hiding behind a giant stack of peasants)

Still, it has a good bit of nostalgia factor and the different kingdom types seem interesting so far. Just wanted to mention this extra context before anyone rushes to buy it for tactical grid combat and finds out it is anything but.

I've put about 4 hours into it today and I have had more moments saying "Holy poo poo that's cool" playing it than the entire time I played BOTW. I think if you can just accept that it's about exploring, finding weird poo poo, and seeing awesome landscapes then it's a game made for you. I was annoyed with it up until I finished the tutorial area, and then I stumbled into an area that's PROBABLY intended to be a stark-contrast later-exploration zone because I always comb a map going counter-clockwise instead of clockwise, and I was floored by how starkly contrasting the environments can be.

It is definitely a third-person puzzle-platformer with zero combat and just stuff to collect in a wide open area, but I'd put it on the same level of Heaven's Vault in how invested I am in the backstory of this fictional post-hightech nomadic setting. It also has phenomenal sound design, there's a whole section that just seems off and "I shouldn't be here" that has ambient noise that reminds me of when I get low-frequency feedback on my phone's headset at work, but in a good way. It has a wide variety of sound design options that make areas feel distinct.

My main gripe is the minimap/compass/thing sucks, so trying to reorient to which way is North fucks with my navigation. I'm riding my wonky hoverbike in circles trying to find out where The Whale is.

You absolutely can tactic the battles, issue general move orders, split stacks and have 2 3 4 stacks of archers behind a wall of peasants, kite, dash in and dash out with some units.

It's a bit of a pain to micro, but you'll save yourself attrition if you do some. I started doing the strategy battles to learn more, you get an army of a set amount of gold and complete the puzzle of a battle.

The game does crash in it's current state occasionally but it's really good about autosave so you'll never lose more than a turn or battles maybe 1 min of time or less usually.

Had my eye on Tails of Iron for a while now. A very unique combination of elements here that looks cool to me

I beat this today! It took maybe ten hours over the course of a few days. I was hoping for more, but I sometimes have trouble playing things all the way through even when I love them so I don't know if I'm actually allowed to complain.

I'm very fond of the rats. The movement felt odd for the first little bit, but it didn't take long to click.

Combat isn't super complex (dash, roll, parry, block) but it has heft. Last-second catching the ichor-slicked axe of an undead frog three times your size WITH TEETH and then forcing it back didn't get old before the game ended.

Also there's like a billion adorable outfits.


Don't go expecting anything like actual exploration or choices. It isn't that, and if you want that, no. There's some backtracking and it's obvious when and where and why. You're on the rails, fighting stuff while Geralt tells you the bedtime story of tiny King Redgi.

I liked it!

But which of the embarrassing number of games in my backlog do I take on next?

I played the UNSIGHTED demo (which is still up at the moment) and basically fell in love instantly. A 3/4 view action platformer with deep combat and really nice looking, kind of 'digitalized' pixel art where the whole world looks a bit unreal. Controls wonderfully, has a huge map and very deep RPG customization.

Dap is a 3/4 view action adventure game with some Pikmin-like qualities and some of the most gorgeous and original-looking art I've ever seen. Looks and sounds somewhat unsettling.

First post in this thread, but I can't find where else to talk about this game so here it goes.

Rift Wizard is absolutely amazing. If you grew up on old 80s PC Games, or you had an uncle who had a working C64 and you got to play Temple of Apshai a few times, Rift Wizard is the game for you. Every inch of Rift Wizard is dripping with aesthetic.

This is everything I want in a roguelike, without having an RNG push you into a specific build. How many times you launched Slay the Spire wanting to run a Powers/Defect build, only to get dealt room after room of claws? You have your whole spellbook available at the start, and how you spend skillpoints determines your build. You'll get rooms that make certain classes of spells cheaper, but those are in no way required to get you to the wizard of your choice. There are shrines that will enhance your spells, those are random and you shouldn't plan on building around those. But I've seen at least 20 different shrines, many of which add very fun options to your potential builds.

It took me 30 hours to get to my first win, and I had fun on every single run up to that point. Since I made the regrettable mistake of popping my head up too high in a FYAD thread, I got my avatar of 17 years changed. Well, so long :cow: hello :wizard:

If you like roguelikes, if you like strategy sandboxes, or if you like wizard powertrips, this is absolutely the game for you.

I played the UNSIGHTED demo (which is still up at the moment) and basically fell in love instantly. A 3/4 view action platformer with deep combat and really nice looking, kind of 'digitalized' pixel art where the whole world looks a bit unreal. Controls wonderfully, has a huge map and very deep RPG customization.

I'm getting CrossCode vibes from this, any truth to that?

Definitely, although the combat is much better in my opinion. There's ranged and close up, parrying, blocking, special moves etc. and it just feels good. I also think it looks a little better in terms of art.

On the other side of it, I doubt it's got as long or involved a story as CrossCode
