A10 is a great plane but it is a poo poo dogfighter. but even so it should be able to boom and zoom the p47 in competent hands you would think (though looking at it the a10's top speed isn't that much higher than the p47).

Having a mile long baseball bat on the front of the airplane when you fire up the cannon does a lot for your air to air performance.

Cross-post from the OSHA thread, does this look like a malfunction or operator error (Or too hard to tell probably)?

I think we discussed that once and it was a malfunction, specifically a fin malfunction that jammed it in the tube.

Honestly I was so miserable in the military that I would go get it at CVS low key and then refuse it on base and take the discharge.

I promise I’m not the only one who has thought of this either.

I kinda wonder how they woulda handled it if we were still in 2006-style “every body necessary” mode.

discharge is only one of several options a commander can take, so if there was an urgent need for retention you'd probably see a lot more confinements and other punishments handed out to make that choice a lot more unpalatable.

In 2007 they were starting adsep prep for a guy that was refusing the anthrax vaccine, but they didn't actually want to lose him and dragged their heels until it didn't matter that he didn't get it.

also that airman said " a lot of us are looking at discharge and we weren’t expecting this so we have no idea what to plan for and I’m sure a lot of people are trying to plan for their future right now."

They were warned, with plenty of time. I don't think they actually can plan for the future.

Currently dealing with a veteran at my job (federal) that is refusing to disclose his vaccine status. Of course, he's out of office for "quarantine" reasons. I'm assuming he just wants to ride this out as long as possible while collecting paychecks until finally he gets asked to leave at which point he'll crawl onto the cross and claim he's been persecuted for his beliefs.

this is the reason why all these cases are slam dunks if brought to courts martial, and why all these requests for religious exemptions are getting torpedoed immediately. it's not a great idea to refuse a lawful order on the grounds of "well, the last 17 times were ok, but not this time."

it's also frankly hysterical to watch the gears grind when you inform a troop that objects to the covid vax because "its made from fetal cells" that multiple vaccines they've already accepted without complaint used the exact same process.

Talked to an air force person today who scheduled a shot after finding out that they were removing themselves for consideration for advancement and cool job opportunities, but they "weren't happy [about it]" and "still have misgivings".

Like whatever, if we had better options we wouldn't be in the military. You're just in denial about being for sale for so cheap :lmao:

In my area we are giving members written orders to get the shot and the people who refuse have been given three written orders at this point, one for each week that they can get the first round for and still meet the SecDef deadline. We are essentially building a case that says we can do almost anything under the UCMJ to them if pressed, 99% of the folks presented with the order took the shot because they like money more than their convictions.

There was a story about 15 years ago about a guy in the UK who dressed up like a ninja to patrol his local park. Of course his “sword” was a broom handle with something resembling a camping mat wrapped around it. He claims he stopped some Chavs who were shooting swans with a BB gun one time so that’s good if it’s true. It is Knife Crime Island though so maybe they came back the next week and stabbed him to death.
