I guess this genre is going to see a revival. It's a really well made show, but that actually makes it more disappointing that there isn't much else to say about it. The ideas aren't really explored much. The mystery and twist both fizzle out. I'd enjoy another show with the same quality of production but better writing.

Has this thread discovered Midnight Mass yet? I love Rahul Kohli but I hope he escapes Mike Flanagan soon - he plays the sheriff and has to attempt an American accent during a 5 minute monologue about being inspired to become a cop by 9/11 (only to experience racism within law enforcement).

I have a few criticisms of it like the fact the drug dealer's mother's confrontation with the sheriff doesn't actually have any payoff, since apparently the sheriff is terrible at his job, but overall it was pretty good. Even the characters that get killed off early tend to have full character arcs, which is rare in shows like this. Rahul Kohli's performance was great, though I think the role left something to be desired for the reason you mentioned as well as others.
