How are u posted:Jesus, how many people itt wear the full elasto masks? For another perspective on this — I ordered one this week with a few different kinds of cartridges. Normally, I use KN95. I’m not in a high-risk job right now (hopefully this continues), but I have had to start commuting by bus to the office, so I will be using more of said masks. I hesitated for a long time —maybe part of me never wanted to accept the permanence of the situation, and I think I will feel a little awkward when I wear it. I might not open it for a while. My main concern is the potential of supply shortages affecting the kind of masks I usually buy. Is this a realistic concern? I don’t know, but some other things I regularly buy have been impacted already. Some products, while available, have been increasing in price very quickly. I don’t have particular insight into the supply chain around this, but the compounding issues of late have got me anxious about it. For less than $100 I can feel prepared for any longer-term shortage. It seems like a useful thing to have at home in this era in general: I have already had to buy masks every summer in the wildfire season. Although the issue of waste isn’t at the forefront of my mind (for a long time my operating assumption was that waste produced from preventive measures is far outweighed by the waste and costs incurred by illness), it does seem better to avoid single-use products where possible. I hope this makes sense.

KF/KN94's are probably the best balance of terrors imho, if you're not having sickos coughing all over you all day. I can hand someone an N95 but at this point people are used to and want the ear thing and one person I know who wears them swears they're better for glasses wearers As has been elaborated on there's a lot of non-COVID reasons to have an elastomeric handy and there's no better time than now to ensure you get one that fits. Anything you can do in your hobbies or construction work to limit your exposure to fumes and particulates is highly recommended considering the poo poo we're exposed to day to day that's become normalized (CARS!!!!! )

I might check out the masks section in the CSPAM thread but personally feel like vaxxed/n95 is more than enough, especially since we are still limiting our exposure to other people and enclosed spaces as much as is reasonably possible. In case anyone does want elastomerics, this is the full list of NIOSH‐approved non‐valved elastomeric respirators. They approve mask/filter combinations, so there are really only four models: MSA Advantage 290 MSA Advantage 900 GVS Elipse NonValved Dentec 400 NX The first three use the molds of a valved model, so they look like they have valve covers, but there is no valve underneath and exhalation goes through the filters. You may get hassled about them. The Dentec 400 NX is more distinctive, but, well, I’ll let you decide. Here is the page to search by other criteria. I can find one valveless FFRs (i.e. the disposable mask‐like type) with N100 protection, Shenyang Baianda Safety Co.’s Model EF600. The are fourteen valveless N99 options. Ignoring the completely obvious idiocy of this post and the fact that you seem to be trolling multiple threads with similar stupid poo poo, I have an air purifier with an air quality sensor. When I clean a cat litter box, I can see with the naked eye plumes of dust go into the air. My air purifier always triggers after this and clears it out of the air. How in the world can you not recognize that wearing a mask while cleaning a box of poo poo dust is a good practice? Maybe, instead of rape apologia, you should just stop huffing poo poo dust for a moment.

The volume and intricate detail of mask chat in this thread is amazing. It's like when you stumble across a youtube channel and a guy has fifty, hour long videos on the various types of suitcase hinge that are available. It's a good thing, glad people can find the info. I usually just scroll past and even so I've absorbed more information about masks by osmosis than I ever dreamed I would know.

How are u posted:Did people keep cats before the advent of n95 masks? How did they ever survive, crazy to think about. Sure they did — I did! As soon as I did have N95s on hand after a smokey summer, though, it immediately made sense to me to put one near the litterbox when I was catsitting. Was it necessary? No. Did I feel better about not breathing in litter and poo poo dust? Absolutely. Especially when they weren’t my cats. Have you ever changed the way you have done something based on tools that you have acquired for some other purpose? I think most people do this many times in their lives.

It’s just a convenience filter thing for intermittent shop work, you aren’t supposed to wear it for hours or even minutes, or as a medical grade thing, you just breath through it for the 30 seconds you are turning something on a lathe and it’s blowing sawdust in your face then you don’t breath through it when you stop

Zarin posted:Yeah, the YouTube sword guy uses one; I think the idea is that it's a lot easier to go between using/not using it with gloves on and such. Yeah, it’s for that sort of thing, you wear it around your neck and then breath through it only specifically when you are doing the steps that kick up dust or bits of smoke or something like that. It’s not meant for continuous wear or real protection against very toxic substances. It’s for breathing less uncomfortable or annoying stuff for work you are doing.

Only recently has the federal government announced they will build specialist quarantine camps at Bullsbrook on the outskirts of Perth, Mickleham in Melbourne, and Pinkenba, near Brisbane Airport. They should be up and running in 2022. By December 2022 they will have some caravans on bricks set up in the desert.
