Neat that they're actually going to acknowledge Violence Playthroughs of Chapter 1 now, even if just a single line of dialogue.

Technically the original version acknowledges it slightly as well. If you talk to the king during the epilogue at the end of a Violence playthrough in Chapter 2 he’ll say something along the lines of “You left them (the denizens of Cyber World) behind didn’t you…just like you did to us”. That's for a violence playthrough of chapter 2 though - there's a fair bit of reactivity in the epilogue depending on how many people you recruited, including none. Chapter 1 didn't have the recruit system so chapter 2 starts with you bringing everyone regardless. I wonder if they're going to back-port any of the improvements from chapter 2 (or later?) to chapter 1 at any point. Like the storage system or the mercy meter.

Does the Dark World process create Darkners with a history even if they were "born yesterday"? Or do the Dark Worlds actually exist but, without a fountain, Lightners can't go there? Darkners' dependence on their fountain leans things to the "invented history" side, especially because things like Berdly and Noelle's books (and presumably Noelle's portable game system, though she might have snagged it from home before going to hospital ) aren't showing up as statued Darkners, they're just not there at all. But for all that, Seam and Jevil and Spamton seem to have experienced a deeper history.

Maybe all potential dark worlds already exist, but they don't become accessible to lighteners until a new dark fountain in the corresponding area opens up.

The fact that you gather up the junk and bring it over to Ralsei's world instead of just letting them live in peace in their home world would suggest that the dark worlds don't exist without a fountain. But that would imply that any histories the inhabitants have are retroactive.

A decent number of people seem to think the description of the closet door ("Big enough to fit a medium-sized person") is a nod to the B-Side route. I'm pretty sure it's there to imply that the Knight was hiding in there, opened a fountain without Noelle and Birdley seeing them, then escaped before everybody else woke up. At least it's there for the possibility.Nostalgamus posted:That reminds me: Do you steal all the computers at the end of chapter 2? It says you picked up everything in the room... I've seen fanart of this exact thing, it's a good mental image. Most of the enemies represented software so maybe it was as easy as a USB drive filled with ancient malware

The Dark World is the land of fantasy and make believe so it both has been recently created and always existed because of course you're going to imagine a backstory for your games once you come up with them.

wellp, I was looking for something unrelated and found something new. The weird thing is this doesn't exist in my current end-game saves. I had to load a save before the last queen fight and to defeat her, at least after this recent patch. Now in the "real" world I have a third item, glass. When you INFO it, you get "There is a small shard of something in your pocket \\ It feels like glass, but..." I'm not sure if this is referencing beating all of the bosses, but I already had a save in the end game after beating them and I don't have it there. You can use the glass and you get a few different messages; when you're alone in the library after waking up : You looked through the glass. For some strange reason, for just a brief moment. . . You thought you saw through your hand. Afterwards, you get a different message if you're with Susie: You looked through the glass. For some strange reason, for just a brief moment. . . You thought you saw Susie glaring at you, coldly. . . But when you moved the glass away, You see her looking at you, smiling and making a rude gesture. I thought it might have been referencing the stuff you bundled up in the library, but no, it's still there after you drop queen off. It's not in any of my prior saves with the same completion! (full recruit, safe Berdly, 2 defeated secret bosses)
