Found out in one swoop that a coworker was a crazy anti vaxxer and that he tested positive for covid the day after i had close contact with them last week. :rip: I'm getting tested today but I don't know if it's been long enough to know for sure

lmao it’s so stressful. I mean it’s the normal amount of minor from before but now every single one is a stress bomb.

That’s a good explanation, stress bomb. Every fever, every sniffle, cough etc is terrible for the kids but us too because we worry about them so much and have to take them to urgent care (their doctors office won’t see kids with symptoms). It’s a nightmare beyond what it would be if there isn’t a pandemic.

Surprisingly me, with the immune suppressants, isn’t feeling too bad whereas my wife is starting to feel sick.

I raised a real big stink in my uni department about not being online in a pandemic, and we ended up with some deal where 50% of our total course offerings can now be given online......starting next semester.

the real Pope demanding that people at least give a poo poo for each other and one of the most senior Catholic bishops in America saying "it only kills the weak and the undesirables and those with low vitamin D hint hint yolo" is the most poignant element of the split in Catholicism

it's important to remember a lot of the "Catholic" schools popped up for some reason in 1954 and have far more to do with avoiding "government outreach that arose at that time" vs any real doctrine. the Covington kids school basically existed to ensure Cincy kids didn't have to go to integrated public schools IIRC

The obsession with surface transmission is just the science-wrapped version of moral hygiene. Disease is a moral failing brought on by insufficient attention to personal cleanliness, an affliction on the immoral and lax.

personally, i think that anyone still sending their kids to an in-person school should look into other options to not do that thing anymore

i get that this just hastens the fall of public education in general, but the fault of that lies on all of the open bideners and all the chuds who suddenly see the value of public schooling after talking about how evil it was for so many decades

The pope is Jesuit (the first ever), who are the least conservative of all Catholic orders. The Jesuits were historically the Catholic scholars (which is why there are a lot of Jesuit universities) and were by far the most progressive lay order. Basically all non Jesuit Catholics suck.

edit:

Yeah, that's not a good attitude, but there are differences between living through a lockdown and living through forever covid. Doing a birthday celebration outdoors with three kids is better than never having any social event again, imo. I'm still avoiding restaurants like (and due to) the plague, but I see friends outside.

South american catholics have historically been either outright socialists, or friendly to socialism, which I think had a large impact upon the current pope. Hadn't read your article yet though. Apologies if it goes into that.
