Cancellations, delays and operational issues that many private travelers use business aviation to avoid are becoming a factor thanks to pilot shortages and a lack of parts for repairs. Even catering is taking a hit and it’s created some disappointed clients. “Say you’ve got a client who ordered Belvedere vodka and the caterer couldn’t only get Grey Goose,” Doug Gollan, founder of Private Jet Card Comparisons, told CNBC. “So the customer gets on the plane and he’s ticked off that he’s paying all this money and saying ‘why didn’t I get my Belvedere vodka?’” Truly terrible.

Yeah I am increasingly feeling like I am taking crazy pills. I'm considering to just gently caress it and do the medical in Germany after all. I thought I was being smart and proactive by doing it here so the medical examiner could speak with my G.P.. But that's not really going anywhere. Either the doctors don't want to do that, or them writing the report in English costs several thousand Euros. Since I need the evaluation anyhow apparently, I might just as well do it in Germany then, skip the nonsense with the GP and translation. Come to think of it, my PhD supervisor is a psychiatrist. On the one hand, I doubt he can help much. On the other, I performed a bunch of work for him and he's got plenty of time now that he's retired anyway

I knew one of the maintainers in that squadron. About forty seconds after the safety officer was done taking photos, that deer was hung outside the hangar, was butchered on night shift, and cooked the next day. Impromptu squadron bbq! I heard someone say that being hit by a truck or whatever (didn't look at the picture) ruins the meat. Like the trauma releases chemicals that make the meat bad.

Well if you looked at the picture you would see that the deer has been cleanly decapitated by a propeller blade. I doubt its brain even got a signal down to the rest of its body.

It only ruins the meat near where it got hit, if the bowels remain intact. There's usually lots left, but it really depends on how much of the deer got impacted and and how far the bone shards, if any, spread. If the bowels are punctured it's a lot more complicated. Now, a deer that brakes a leg and panics through town until a cop shows up to shoot it? You'll be making lots of jerky and sausage out of that. The stress makes it really tough.

NBAA numbers show that there’s waaaay less than 1000 new bizjets delivered per year. The uncertainty of demand means the manufacturers are sure as hell not going to build new plants or significantly increase production, even if they could get the parts and components. And even if you had the new tails, there’s a pilot crunch, because the airlines paid a bunch of their most senior people large incentives to retire early during 2020. Sounds like fractional jet prices are going up!

As of today, if you show up at the Pittsburgh Airport with a gun in your carryon, US Attorney's office will be contacting your local sheriff recommending the revocation of your concealed carry permit. Allegheny County has already said they are onboard with that enforcement. There have been 27 incidents of guns, often times loaded, found in carry-ons this year alone. The excuse is always "I forgot it was in there."
