Alright, I'm gonna need a little background on this. I thought I understood the basics behind NFTs (you gain exclusive ownership of a digital product or something like that), and that was dumb for a bunch of reasons but at least vaguely logical. How did we go from that to deciding exclusive rights to some DeviantArt Commissions were worth five figures???

I can't be arsed to look it up but the nft bros were trying to create an uplifting story narrative last month with a kid who apparently earned 6 figures designing pixel whales in what looked like his dad's pump and dump scheme, and if you think it's dumb you're denying a child's dream

Judging from the replies from furries making fun of the one choking on Smurf cum, these things are randomly generated, which is the NFT part I guess. Which explains why none of them are coherent and most seem to be either screaming in horror at their own existence or have turned to drugs

This time the idiot is social media, and today it is Instagram! Whilst not a fancy official report (albeit in partnership with the University of Michigan), it seems that there’s a bit of a bias as to what is removed from IG and as to why. Excepts at the link below, as well as a PDF of the full report for : https://saltyworld.net/exclusive-report-censorship-of-marginalized-communities-on-instagram-2021-pdf-download/ My only point of interest is whether this is the algorithm at work or if report brigading is also a player. Regardless, it’s still Not Great that this is happening, especially when things are being dinged as nudity and they aren’t, meanwhile I’m getting a thousand different spam accounts with no poo poo porn trying to add me.

Voyager I posted:Alright, I'm gonna need a little background on this. I thought I understood the basics behind NFTs (you gain exclusive ownership of a digital product or something like that), Note that you do not gain exclusive ownership of anything. No IP anything whatsoever allowing you to prevent others from using it for anything. What you get is a link on the blockchain with your name next to it, which points to a URL where said jpeg is currently at. The jpeg itself is not on the blockchain, just the URL.

It's way stupider than that. You pay to have a transaction saying you purchased the NFT recorded in a blockchain, which is just a URL.

Also the transaction has to be paid in Ethereum coins, right?
