Idk what you guys are on about. Everytime I go to the DND thread I have a great and fun time. Like today they are circle wagons around the notion that any sort of illegal actions around climate are likely to be individual actions or nearly so, and since climate disaster can't be mitigated through individual consumer actions, then any individually attempted acts outside the law obviously won't impact the climate. I've never seen a group be so right for such wrong reasons.

listen, any sort of systemic change to the society or economy will hurt people, many of them innocent. there will always be bloodshed and violence if there's any sort of massive society shift. so instead we must just lay back and accept climate change, since that will not hurt anyone, especially innocent people and wont cause any bloodshed, violence, or massive shifts in society.

Perry Mason Jar posted:Yes? They're correct. The op appears to agree but suggests they are correct for the wrong reasons. Here I suspect they are implying moral cowardice, as opposed to good faith reasoning on the part of the DnD thread, is what led them to that conclusion. Doesn't make the conclusion wrong, just the reasoner contemptible.

https://arstechnica.com/science/2021/10/how-bushmeat-could-help-us-meet-the-worlds-climate-goals/ Eating wild meat is a climate solution! quote:A team led by Martin Nielsen, a professor at the University of Copenhagen’s department of food and resource economics, pored over 49 studies about wild meat for their paper. The source material, published between 1973 and 2019, tried to quantify how much wild meat, including many species of mammals and birds, contributed to the diets of a total of 150,000 people living in the Amazonian and Afro-tropical areas. Mainly, this includes small-scale Indigenous farmers living on the fringes of a forest who consume a substantial amount of bushmeat that they kill in the process of protecting their crops from predation, Nielsen said, though some of the bushmeat does come from hunting expeditions.

You just have to accept that they don't want to accept reality. They want to live in magical Christmas land and no matter how much they insist that they totally understand how dire the situation is they really don't. With the sole exception of how are u (and the fact that this is true is extremely funny) they still have this notion that the miracle technology will come, or the models are off, or the first world will be mostly fine, or that if we elect enough dems we can push the collapse off till we're old.

I ate a dolphin. I found it flopping around on the beach so I picked it up and scarfed it down like a hotdog. I ate it beak first to I could look into its eyes as I ate it. As I stared into those panicked, inky depths all I could see was a reflection of my own fat face eating a dolphin.

I'd eat a dolphin but I guess i wouldn't kill it specifically to eat it my morals are satisfied if my species murders it indirectly by killing it's environment though I guess I'd just have to get really loving good at figuring out when dolphins are going to die

Conspiratiorist posted:Just follow the fishermen waiting for your meal. that's too intentional, i may as well just reel in a dolphin and punch it out myself. I think they should get to swim around as long as they want. but when you hear those stories that dolphin populations are down 75% or vanished or something the unwritten part of those stories is dead dolphins floating in the middle of the ocean for awhile. Then i'd eat one. this is a lot of explanation. i feel like people wouldn't be open to my elaborate series of dolphin eating rationalizations and justifications. They can't even be that good, can they?
