I would like your duplicate Songs in the Key of Life, plz.

Back when I lived in Florida my favorite record store had a back room of thousands of unsorted records that were $3 each. I remember seeing like, oodles of copies of Songs in the Key of Life there and I was always like, "I'll grab that next time." Then I moved out of state without ever picking it up and when I started checking around used copies pretty much everywhere else was $10 and up. This was like around 2015 and the vinyl collectors boom was really taking off and it feels like it's only gone up in price ever since. A couple of years later I was back in Florida and returned to that store. The back room was still there, but had been absolutely picked over and was basically little more than Goodwill fare. Those Songs in the Key of Life copies were all loooong gone.

That Stevie record has haunted me ever since.

I really don't know why records that common sell for prices that high.

I don't know either because I noticed it searching for the John Entwistle records recently. Lots of copies ranging from 8 to 25 dollars and it wasn't based on condition, just what the going rate happened to be when it was taken into the shop.

And you all made me go downstairs and check if I kept a copy of Songs in the Key of Life. Which I did and it's complete with 7in and lyric book. Start pestering your parents friends for their old records? It was in that lot that was half Christian records I got a while back. The other half was folk singers, Motown peeps, John Denver, Chicago, and Gordon Lightfoot.

My Dad's childhood records are long gone, but I got everything he purchased as an adult and all the records my maternal grandparents had. Lots of John Denver, ABBA, James Taylor, Carole King and contemporary Christian in that set. A ton of 1960s country albums from the grandparents. Grandpa seems to have had a crush on Kitty Wells.

Sometimes my carriers will mark something delivered and it shows up later in the day. Do you have a porch pirate problem in your area? Because I have to get most things delivered to work now.

no, no porch pirates, plus my place is set a little far back from the road. I saw the notification and went right to the door since I was just waiting for the Bills game to start at that point and nothing there. Haven't seen it yet today but I'm hoping that it gets dropped off and I don't have to get in contact with the seller.

If it was USPS the thing they use to scan the package has a GPS in it that says where they left it. If your mail carrier left it at the wrong house they'll find it. I'm guessing UPS and FedEx probably have this as well.

Amazon and the USPS will routinely mark some of my stuff as delivered and I don’t get it till much later in the day or the next. Happens. Also why I ended up with an extra package of coffee filters for my Chemex from amazon. I filed a missing package slip, they sent out a new package and my initial arrived the next day.

I just bought some shoes and Vans handed the delivery off to a company I've never heard of and apparently they're notorious for loss, damage, and theft. They're universally despised and it's a miracle that they're still in business because their management is a rogues gallery of incompetence and corruption. Also Amazon contracts with them. Hooray. Hey it finally happened to me. Walked into a thrift store during that 5-10 minute window where they put out new records and a flipper hasn't found them yet.

I left about 35 more about the same quality that I wasn't interested in. Everything I left was gone when I realized Eat A Peach was supposed to be 2LP and went back about 20 minutes later to look for the missing disc.

steinberg made three records for DG and all of them are not only great, but among the best versions of their respective pieces (The Planets, Mathis der Maler, and Also Sprach Zarathustra). he's a really underrated conductor mostly because his stuff was on Command Records which hasn't been re-released ever for some reason

Yeah Icky Thump has a seal you have to tear to open. Also when the Dead Weather was first performing they did a grand opening for the TMR store and the band gave out special 7 inch records with sealed covers that had to be torn open to get the record. I think the band members painted stuff on the covers too. ALSO. There was some super limited dead Weather 7 inch single that was inside of a 12 inch single you had to break open. The 7 inch inside was only available that way. Jack White has said in interviews that he likes to troll record collectors. The Nashville store has a patio with a lucite floor and under it is a shitload of those stupid tri-color singles that people pay outrageous markups for. Sacred Bones has limited editions that are whatever new release with a screen printed cover over the regular cover sealed with a wax stamp but you can just slide them off without breaking the seal so it's less fun.

Have a reverse shot too.

A hair dryer and a razor. Judicious use of Goo Gone to remove residual glue. Washed the Goo Gone off with soap and water. Used glue stick on the back of the sticker and mounted it on a sheet of acetate. I like it tucked in the back of the record.

mfers think they're gonna tell me how to enjoy my records, gently caress u yr not my real dad!!

If I'd bought that two-in-one breakapart single I would have cracked that nut figuratively and literally. I would have figured out the Fight Club soundtrack too if I bought it but I'm not really into that kind of music.

edit: About that last composite image... when Vault #33 came out I bought a copy for my friend for Christmas, which was five months away. Took a lot of bullshit to order two because Jack doesn't want people flipping them, totally understandable, flippers ruin it for the rest of us who just wanna buy a gift. Anyway, I had put together a package which included a custom-made 8.5x11, 12-page book, with photos and artifacts from the release. I had formatted it using a sick typewriter font. I tried to get my hands on a typewriter but no luck.

Sadly I'm pretty sure those files are now gone. I had to use Courier Bold in the recreation, forgive me.

Fake edit: I'll spare y'all another 10 MB of photos but the back cover, frankly, owns, and is worth the extra few MBs
