After they've hosed away the human jam residue, the next archetypal Conservative strides confidently forth to straddle the tracks of history.

This process continues for thousands of years and no one ever learns anything or questions this pointless waste of archetypal Conservatives. They could still join productive society as draft excluders or doorstops, you monsters.

The quote is supposed to sound like a philosophical argument, but instead it sounds like a child throwing a tantrum because those people are allowed to have the same rights as me.

And that's basically what it is, so you're right: it's a self own that I doubt they even realize.

This is a local-ish issue, I can elaborate.

Virginia is a state commonwealth that, in the past twenty years, has gone from red to blue. The last big win being the complete control of the state legislature, a first for dems since the 90s.

That does not mean that the state is suddenly 100% not poo poo, as there is plenty of friction between the blue Northern region (near DC, aka NoVa) and the western and southern regions. And even within those areas there is friction, as southeastern Virginia (the coastal areas, aka Tidewater, aka Hampton Roads if you’re a tool, aka 757 if you’re an even bigger tool) has a fairly large black population at roughly a third of the population.

So Loudoun County is in Nova, and the schools are under attack due to mostly reactionary poo poo like CRT and bathroom rules. CRT, as far as I can tell, is not being taught or used in any way. However the truth is never something to stop conservatives, so they just take things from the curriculum like “The USA had a pretty racist origin.” as the smoking gun that CRT is being covertly taught in schools.

The other item is transgender kids going to the bathroom, because I guess chuds think about children pissing a lot. This lead to arrests after people kept getting out of control at school boards meetings, because they are meetings not protest sites. This is why the DOJ is looking into things: not because it branded parents as enemies of the state of whatever the hot new GOO talking point is, but because things are getting very heated at these meetings and board members are getting death threats.

It doesn’t help that there is a gubernatorial race next month in Virginia, and Youngkin, the rich rear end in a top hat who is running on the Republican ticket, is definitely playing this up as a vector of attack on McAuliffe, the not-so-rich rear end in a top hat who wants to be governor again. McAuliffe made a probably unwise statement that parents shouldn’t be telling schools what to teach. It’s not wrong, but god forbid you tell a parent they don’t always know what is best for their kids, regardless of politics. The race has tightened up in the past weeks, to the point where Youngkin is now within the margin of error.

Other spicy things were angry moms waving queer literature claiming it’s not just porn, but pedophilia, because it turns out stories about minors discovering their sexuality/gender identity sometimes involves sex between minors. I mentioned it earlier in the thread last week. And the latest is that the angry dad who was arrested for being disruptive during a board meeting is claiming that his daughter was sexually assaulted by “a boy wearing a skirt” and Loudoun county has covered it up. Police did confirm such charges in May, but couldn’t confirm if it was related to this guy. Which normally would smack of “We must punish trans kids for this.” but the parents want to stick it to the school board so it’s a bit more muddled than normal.

So there’s your effort post on public education in Virginia: a land of contrasts.

Just as Trump did all he could to enervate and deconstruct the federal government over which he presided, Thomas-Kennedy appears anxious to transform the city attorney into a public defender. Perhaps that is not a surprise, since she has had a career in that field. The question is whether Seattle voters want their municipal lawyer to be perpetually siding with the perpetrators of crime rather than the victims of their illegal actions.

There's more about this story. A rape kit was performed on the angry father's daughter shortly after the assault, and the rape kit results were "favorable to the prosecution", meaning that there's evidence of rape. Criminal charges of forcible sodomy, anal sodomy, and forcible fellatio are being pursued, and the alleged perpetrator, a 15-year-old who sometimes wears skirts, allegedly committed abduction and sexual battery against another girl in a different school before the trial for the first assault could be held. The first crime was in a bathroom; the second crime was in a classroom. Charges are being brought for both crimes.

Yes, I realize this is Fox News picking up a story from Daily Wire, and it's wise not to trust either outlet. Both outlets are drawing upon reports from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office and the court system.

My two cents is that transphobia and anti-trans laws are never going to stop any rapes. Rapists of any sexual orientation don't care who can legally use what bathroom; rapists will rape whenever and wherever they can. The only things that can stop rapists are security measures and the justice system, although both appear to be failing miserably in this case. The second assault should never have happened.

I have not seen any testimony from any news outlet that the victim of the first assault was transgender, and the article you provided does not say anywhere that the victim of the first assault was transgender.

The article you provided does refer to the first crime as "allegations of a transgender bathroom assault", but as far as I can tell, the referred-to allegations incorrectly (or at least without proof) describe the perpetrator as transgender.

The perpetrator has been described as "genderfluid" by one news outlet, and the father of the victim has claimed that the perpetrator was bisexual. I would say that the perpetrator's gender identity and sexual orientation are not conclusively proven. All we know for certain is that he has a penis (because of the rape kit evidence) and that he wore a skirt during the first assault (because of sheriff's/court records).

It is absolutely true that conservative outlets have been using this perpetrator to stoke panic and hatred directed against trans people.

That seems like they're just wrong though? Every other news outlet says he was under electronic surveillance as a result of the first attack and the first victim's father is doing the rounds on right wing media yelling about how the school's policy of transgender inclusivity led them to cover up his daughter's assault.

Pants Donkey

The bottom line is that my right to go into a bathroom should not be contingent upon literally every other trans person never committing crimes. The argument was never “there will never be a transgender person performing an assault in a bathroom.” but “allowing trans people in the right bathroom is not going to cause a rise in sex crimes”. And the fact this is like the first incident I can recall in the past few years leans to prove that true.

But hey, I’ll play ball so long as everyone else does. I’m sure conservatives won’t mind punishing gun owners for the crimes other gun owners commit, or punishing the fetus for the crimes of its rapist bio father. I hope the Catholic Church isn’t making any long term plans.
