guns can definitely feel a bit limited on the starter island but it really opens up once you get to the main game

building and upgrading the guerrilla garrison especially is a fairly easy shortcut to all the top tier weapons

Also, some of the guns like the 1911 and Desert Eagle come from treasure hunts only. These are also not listed on the rewards tab for the treasure hunt on the map. Luckily they are fun, but I would definitely prioritize those once you get to the main island.

You will run into guerrillas who you can talk to and they'll show you new attack locations. You will find fnd (gun) crates at those. Also you'll find maps that show you the locations of more there often. Look for a ! Icon on the map.

Also the restricted areas often have them as well so poke around, if your near a chest ot will show up on the mini map.

All of this is off tutorial island so it's best to get off there asap.

Farewell, good Hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

So in the middle area with Bicho and Bemba and the others at the wildlife park or whatever.. is there not a camp with helicopter/plane spawn area in that sector of the map? I’m so confused by that.

I hope we learn about Dani’s past. She strikes me as ex-military but extremely well trained. The scene where she catches that knife in her hands insinuates she’s some kind of tier 1 badass. I like to imagine so, and so I attack by sea as often as possible.

Anyone do the “align your chakras” side quest yet? loving lol do not bow and arrow kill the pelicans just lazily sitting around the quest area before you start it, like I did. I loved the end where you wingsuit down a steep ravine of waterfalls and Dani is yipping and hollering and happy as hell about it. I wish that voice acting happened whenever you pull something exhilarating like that.

Not only can the Triada Supremo/rifle shoot through walls, it's also a one hit kill on any body part. I've started running Supremo charge on burning kills and started using incendiary ammo but I've been able to kill like 8-10 dudes with the enhanced duration which is pretty much whole outposts and it's completely changed my playstyle

This is the first video game where you truly get to feel like an actual terrorist. I mean, I know you're a freedom fighter revolutionary, but your team is pretty fuckin brutal.

Also I despise how the map becomes useless when you zoom out all the way, and the highest level of useful zoom just isn't far enough to look around the map properly.

Ehhh not really? You don't like bomb civillias or anything. I think it's more of this is the first far cry that feels like it's happening in an actual country with people as opposed to the rest which felt more like post apocalyptic ghost towns.

I generally like how they handle skills in this one, but all the grenade and sidearm takedowns should absolutely be intrinsic instead of tied to clothing because they're a lot of fun but also not universally useful enough that I can justify taking them

I think early on she explicitly says she was enlisted along with other orphans

also, the EMP bow eats aerial vehicles. if the driver is lucky, it's a short enough fall that they get to step out of the helicopter plane long enough to shoot back. watching helicopters crash or trucks veer off a cliff is better though

(convoys don't count in this cos it's just one truck and 1 escort :colbert: )

The perk that lets you scope out a bases cameras and alarms with a laptop makes doing these with stealth so easy. Just shoot the alarms and do whatever you want knowing that no backup will come.

So is there any real usage for medicine / fuel / metal after camp upgrades apart from bandido raids? I upgraded all of the camp buildings before I'd even finished the 1at region quest chain and was assuming there'd be some other resource sink.

Once you've done all the camp upgrades they're either tradeable for cash until you've bought everything, or you use those resources in Bandito Operations.

I gotta say, it's probably my favourite Far Cry so far, and Giancarlo Esposito is probably my favourite Far Cry villain. Dani was great too, I think giving her a voice was definitely the right thing to do - and I like the touches with singing along with the radio to the point when she keeps on singing after exiting a vehicle before telling herself to pay attention.

I was indeed able to fix the low texture problems by turning off HD Textures. The game runs well upscaled to 4k on my 1440p monitor and looks pretty good, although flame textures are still super low res for whatever reason.

So far this feels like the AC Syndicate of Far Cry games, in which it's probably the best presented version of the formula that's been in development since FC3, but the formula itself is probably in need of a rework. I do agree that making the main protagonist more than a total non-entity does help with the story, for what it's worth. Also I don't completely hate all of the side characters, which is a great achievement for the FC writing team.

It's super easy to upgrade all 6 buildings to the max before even starting to play the game. I did the same, I unlocked the 3 "bases" and upgraded everything to the max before I even progressed further. There is absolutely no need for any more resources after this and money is completely irrelevant. It's very noticeable that parts of this game was made without direction. The weird defenses on the cars are another good example, they are never useful.

Yep, I was mostly concentrating on the first region but buzzed over to the other camps to get them built up and gain the perks.

I shouldn't be surprised as an overly generous economy is in every Ubisoft game, but it feels moreso here.

I really like this game a ton. I have to echo that this is probably the best Far Cry game they've made but I have some problems outside of how skills are given. I really don't like how the UI disappears to let the areas announce themselves when you enter them. It's extremely intrusive and you can't really do anything until that nonsense disappears. I wish it was just something that popped up in the corner or top of the screen. The game is also really bad at tutorializing stuff. I did not realize that if I dropped on to an enemy I'd stealth kill them. They also need to tighten up the button prompts. Trying to loot containers or disable tripwires is a pain in the rear end because the game requires you to be in a certain, almost pixel perfect spot.

These are some of the things I don't like that can be fixed up. I just accepted that the skills and perks from gear is a fact of life and that's the game. I don't like it one bit but that's what they want to do.

Yeah, armoured piercing ammo breaks right through the "unshootable" alarms. Because it's not already OP enough.

You can also throw a sticky EMP grenade in the general area and it'll shut them down through walls too. If you have the camp upgrade that shows where all the alarms are you can throw a bunch of EMP grenades in the general areas of the alarms at the start and go to town on a garrison.

They sometimes drop ammo. You get it just by walking over them, no interaction needed. You cannot loot their guns.
