At this point you can be sure that literally every race that was ever mentioned will be added in. They have the map now so even amazons will be added in because they know it'll sell, the question is just when they'll add it.

So regardless of pre-order or not, looks like Ogres will present on launch (possibly not playable in a manner similar to pre-FLC Bretonnia).

Another thing that this tells us is that Ogres probably won't get walls, and even more, when other factions take land in the Ogre homelands, they won't be able to make walls...which is pretty lore accurate, since Ogres live in mountainous terrain with massive wildlife that most other factions can't really thrive in.
I'd imagine they'll be pretty similar to Norsca, a homeland with full buildings, but only able to establish camps or something outside of it.

I don't mind the dark coloured UI but I am curious how it will look against the normal terrain. It looks fine for like, the purely UI screens they have showed but I can't imagine it against the campaign or battle maps unless the terrain is also extremely red.

Yeah I was there, and 12. Practically nobody actually played battles, you just registered a bullshit win for your chosen side every day, as directed by your favoured faction's fan site.

The dumb part is how everyone seems to agree that righteous Orc Fans brought down Big Chaos, instead of what actually happened: GW designed a bad Return of the King campaign and Archaon teleported to Middenheim for the big battle because two factions' worth of players will not beat 13 factions' worth of players hard enough to legit get to Middenheim. I was registering one win for my gobbos and one win for my cult of slaanesh every day, for opposing sides.

the-waaagh.com being one of the biggest fan sites is way Grimgor got the kill. There was no righteous fan revolt against the heavily-favoured chaos crew.

Just to weigh in, this is how it happened.

When nu-GW happened and chaos got resurrected from being flavourless trash, Death Guard got put in the 40k starter box. I think that's what lead to the tons of Nurgle stuff. Starter box factions always get popular because it's by far the most affordable way to build a tabletop army.

Nurgle also benefits from having a consistent good aesthetic. They just barely figured out Slaanesh beyond "boobies!", Khorne is dull, and Tzeentch suffers from needing to have physical designs of things that are supposed to be so anti-reality your brain breaks if you look at them. Nurgle's aesthetic works and suits the lore.

Also, much like fish elves, the AoS Nurgle snail man is invited to TWW in my opinion.

I think you’re right that Khorne (as depicted) is dull and Tzeentch is hard, but I would argue Slaanesh’s aesthetic is ‘figured out’ - it’s just that fully executing on it is impossible because it is too spicy to market.

Slannesh is the god of obsessives and hedonists, so his aesthetic is boobs and crab hands naturally.

As a concept Slannesh is really interesting but the execution is basically this meme but it's "perfection is often subjective and unobtainable" - "not all earthly pleasures are carnal"

How exactly do the crab hands spring from hedonism? Is it because crab is delicious?

I think crab claws make sense because 1. they’re asymmetrical (even on crabs) which is unsettling and attacks the part of your brain that contextualizes things - it’s looking for symmetry in humanish figures. 2. A crab claw - unlike a generalist human hand or tentacle, is specialized to do exactly one thing, perfectly. 3. You have to do things you might otherwise do with your hand using other parts than your hand.

As of the most recent dlc there are 69 selectable legendary lords in mortal empires FYI.

Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
I always thought Noise Marines were a perfect execution and a unique approach to Slaaneshi excess. Maybe they can work rocking the gently caress out into Slaanesh soul grinders to get past the tech gap. Or Slaanesh casters magically amplify their decrees across the winds. Blow out eardrums in melee, enormous debuffs/buffs, huge knockbacks and formation disruption. Hell, make a new school, lore of sonic booms.

Of all the Chaos factions Slaanesh is definitely the one that works best by sticking to the 80s aesthetic. Hair metal bands but like with crab hands I guess.

The crab claws suck and are just a holdover from the days when GW had no idea how to do Slaanesh and just made random monsters with tits.

The new look for slaanesh with all the elaborate armor, fancy dresses and excess suits the faction much better

One of my favorite things about The Evil Within 2 is that one of the villains, an insane photographer, has a series of classy but disturbing motifs in the areas he controls. These are long red curtains, tiled floors, studio lighting, and cameras. The song Tchaikovsky's "Serenade for strings, Op 48" also plays constantly when he's around.

"Classy but disturbing" would also work for Slaanesh.

Ahem.
It depends on the species. I’m a die hard crabber and while some crab species do have a crusher and ripper claw it’s not universal at all. It’s super obvious on lobsters but nobody cares about those weirdos.

To add onto what everyone else said Nurgle's bonuses were also the best ones competitively. They were either an increase to toughness or regeneration for the same point cost as the other god's considerably worse powers. So nurgle sold very well and GW responds to good sales generally with more models.
