On one hand, if you're going to treat it similarly to racism and homophobia it has to be about more than just physical attacks and screaming slurs and believing the most obvious millennia-old tropes if you're to confront the systemic roots of it. On the other, if you're going to do that you have to at least be aware of how systemic issues work if you don't want a bunch of fuckwits with frog avatars diluting it beyond meaning on purpose (while also doing all the slurs and millennia-old tropes).
