Considering even a few years ago I had people ask me "Wait, we're still in Afghanistan? I thought we left there years ago!" the average Stardew Citizen not knowing about or paying any attention to the war is the most realistic thing about this game. I just "finished" my latest farm! I got 100% Perfection for the first time ever and built Pam and Penny a house. My farm still looks like an undeveloped mess because decorations are for the weak. I'm calling that farm done. The only thing I'd maybe want to do is fill a coop with golden chickens as a weird flex, but eh I think I'm good.

Digging this up from last page but I'm pretty sure that despite the uniform Maru is never referred to as a nurse and is not, in fact, a nurse. She's a part time assistant/receptionist. The big clue that she is just barely out or not yet out of her teens is that she participates in the egg hunt

Also I don't think he ever acknowledges the existence of his stepson, who lives in his basement. Blended families are complex, yes, but he sure as hell knows how to dote on the golden child while having about no relationship with a self-taught programmer who has been under his care for at least 18 years. Dude is obviously coded as autistic, but he's also a dick for reasons that have nothing to do with communication barriers.

The Secret Woods only grow Fiddlehead Ferns in Summer. If not, spelunk the Prehistoric floors of Skull Cavern, or explore the Ginger Island Jungle, or wait until it is Summer again in the Secret Woods.

No. That is how it works for adult relationships, yes, but Demetrius came into Sebastian's life when the latter was a kid; Sebastian had no say in the matter. They don't have to be close; Demetrius could simply respect Sebastian's boundaries and treat him cordially while leaving the parenting decisions to Robin, but he literally never acknowledges Sebastian's presence other than scolding him. If you marry Sebastian, various incidental dialogue makes it clear that his home life was miserable, and also that he loves his mother and knows that she's doing her best, while he feels conflicted about Maru and acknowledges that she's not at fault for his issues. It's kinda funny to me that Demetrius gets so much more poo poo for bad parenting than Pam. I mean, I get it, Pam's flaws are front-and-centre and there's not really any argument to be had about them. Also Pam doesn't have a hot wife to get people looking for reasons to break up her family. But I think if you're going to look at Sebastian's unhappiness with his home life you can't ignore Robin's role in that. Demetrius clearly favours his own daughter over his step-son, yes, but Sebastian's own mother isn't doing anything to make him feel loved either.

I think Pam gets a bit of a pass like Shane for their shittiness because they improve themselves somewhat as you get to know them and play out their story. Demetrius seems to kinda just suck in general and not change much, like Clint.

She definitely could do a better job, but he understands that she's trying. Pam, too, at least cares about her daughter, wants her to be happy, and is fully aware that she is failing as a parent. That doesn't absolve her, but is way ahead of Demetrius literally never interacting with Sebastian other than to tear down his snow goon off-screen once every winter.

Funnily enough, when I got that scene I answered that tomatoes are fruit. He specifically asks how you would classify tomatoes. And tomatoes are classified as fruit. "Vegetable" is not a scientific classification. It's a culinary term. (Note I am not saying that describing them in culinary terms is any less valid here). If he'd said what would you "call" a tomato, or how would you "categorize" it, I'd answer they're vegetables and the game agrees with me. Tomatoes get turned into juice and pickles, not wine or jam. Also as someone very close to an autistic person, I 100% read that as a conflict between someone on the spectrum and an NT. No question.

Personally I just don't care that much about the personalities of the characters in this game. I know that's the appeal for a lot of people that look at the social aspect of it, but for me heart meters are just another number to make go up, rather than a reflection of what I personally like and don't like. I'm not getting emotionally invested in the human qualities of Demetrius or Clint or Pierre or whoever.

Which is part of why the game is so good. It’s there for folks that want to delve in, but the game is absolutely fine as a farming and capitalism simulator with building elements!

It's always a bit sad when you can't marry the person you want to, but I prefer actually personalities to walking stereotypes or simplistic one-size-fits-all personalities.
