so I’m rewatching the anime on netflix, haven’t watched in a long time and it’s so good in so many ways. I was thinking before this footage that its success will depend entirely on budget. But I think Faye here was miscast, need more of a Maggie Q caliber actress for that role but we’ll see.

I liked the '72 adaptation of Slaughterhouse-Five as a straight story, obviously lacking because it cut all the weird, meta, and better parts of the book. If they wanted to make a limited series they could find room for that, but if they're going to go for an adaptation, they should really adapt it for the medium instead of trying to act out the book as written. It should open with a meeting where a film crew talks about how they're going to wow the audiences by ending it with one of the major characters being executed for taking a toy train in the wreckage of the firebombing of Dresden, arguing about whether they want a big name for the role or a more seasoned character actor, and the logistics of how many extras they need and what level of graphic violence the studio will allow.

true story gangnam style is actually a fairly unsubtle satire about the buffoonish upper class culture of southeastern seoul that attempts to mask their conspicuous consumption through trends that seem chic to them but goofy to everyone else weird how this didnt inspire a revolution against those cultural norms but instead served to amplify and trendify them for better international export but im sure squid game will be different
