Here's the actual coins. The collection in the front there are mostly old UK pennies from the early 1900's up to the 60s or something. Some are from the late 1800s I think but those ones are really worn.

I had some 5c coins as well a while back. A close friend had moved to South America for work and as a birthday gift I sent him a selection of 1c, 2c and 5c coins where they all had the year of his birth on them, the number of coins was his birth month, and the total value added up to his birth day. I was stunned I could actually do that.

The PYF thread about cryptids and bunyips reminded me of this weird-rear end show that I used to watch on the ABC in the 70s when I was a kid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQrM7UDtd_o Co-starring Ron Blanchard and Miss Jane from Mr Squiggle! Wikipedia says that the actor inside the bunyip costume was Mike Meade who I guess is the same guy who later hosted the kids TV gameshow Now You See It

does austrailia celebrate Halloween? in the spring?
|
# ? Nov 1, 2021 03:27 |

We don't really celebrate it. It's taking off a little bit now but it isn't a very common thing. The biggest demographic is probably drinking age dress up parties rather than kids going trick or treating.

Wendigee posted:does austrailia celebrate Halloween? in the spring? Samhain was the pagan harvest festival, Halloween is the Christian saints festival which replaced it. Halloween stole a lot of the seasonal trappings but it's not seasonal itself. E: there were LOTS of kids trick-or-treating in my area, looked like whole streets turned out

I mean I only did it a few times as a kid, then became a teenager with P-plates driving around egging/waterbombing younger kids, and then eventually house parties with costumes and binge drinking, but its been a thing for a while. i went to two pubs yesterday running halloween parties too.
