My wife told me about a cow her family owned during her childhood. It was to be raised for slaughter, but over the years that they had it, the cow had become more of a pet. It would come when called, pet its head in your lap, etc. The relatives that did not live on the farm insisted on getting the money out of the investment, so her father agreed on the kill. To this day, over 40 years she can barely talk about poor old T-bone.

Along similar lines, I was once way out in the countryside fixing a flat tire on my bike. I was near a fence line, and over the course of the repair, cows started wandering over to check out what was going on. They were very curious and attentive. I sensed that if they could talk, they would have been offering me some advice on the repair. I have been pescatarian even since. No octopus either, ever since I read the octopus and the spatula story somewhere else on SA.

They do that as a heat regulatory mechanism. On my buddy's property there's a particular tree turkey vultures like to roost in, and on cooler days you'll come out to see like 10 of them in a pose like that, backs to the sun.

Heelers are so good. They're the best farm dogs as long as they have a job to do because they're smart enough to get bored when nothing is happening.

I'd fully expect kangaroos on a golf course same as I expect huge fuckoff possums and raccoons on US greens. It's a lovely bit of nature with perfect grass. Practically begs for a kangaroo herd.

I was about to say something about how it reminded me of Bagheera, but I figure they probably referenced actual panthers for the animation and Bagheera is kind of a sarcastic character, so it kind of went without saying.

Btw

quote:

The word bagheera is Hindustani for panther or leopard, although the root word bagh means tiger.

Wait, was that the most recent live action version Bagheera in your post?
